Henery the lone bright spot for the Eagles this season

Alex Henery But the Eagles had to deal with numerous injuries that affected many of their best players and offensive line. The Eagles finished with a 4-12 record, and that record cost head coach Andy Reid his job. Shortly after Reid’s firing, quarterback Michael Vick claimed that his teammates didn’t give it their all. He says that he gave it a 100% each game. Even when he helped the Eagles get blown out in the Week 17 game with the New York Giants. While Vick wouldn’t come out and say who those players were, or even his self, there was only one player that truly brought it each week during the season. And, no, he wasn’t one of their key players on offense or defense. The player that brought it each week was kicker Alex Henery. He was their lone bright spot on the season. Henery couldn’t play quarterback when Vick or Nick Foles were injured. He also couldn’t play for the woeful defense. Yet, Henery was called on many times to keep the Birds in games. He would use his foot to keep the Birds in games. The second year kicker reportedly came into the season with a lot of confidence after his success last season. He ended last season by making 16 straight field goals. This season, he was a perfect 8-for-8 in field goals within 29 yards. When it came to field goals from 30-39 yards, he went 8-for-9. He also missed a field goal from 40-40 yards and his lone kick longer than 50 yards. Yet, he was 11-for-12 between 40-49 yards. Many weeks, his field goals would keep games close. There were two intenseces, where his foot helped the Eagles to two of their four wins. In Week 4, he kicked a 26-yard field goal to give the Eagles a 19-17 win. Also, made three extra points with games tied to beat the Cleveland Browns, and the Baltimore Ravens. In Week 1, he kicked an extra point, as the game was tied at 16-16, to give the Eagles a 17-16 win.
