Fullback Henry Hynoski is not going to carry the ball early or often, but as he did against the New York Jets on Saturday night, he may hit opposing teams with the occasional surprise attack.
Hynoskiâs two-yard plunge for a first down on 3rd-and-1 wasnât anticipated. It never so much as crossed the minds of Gang Green, nor did it cross minds of those watching the game. Not because it wasnât possible, but because it had never happened before. It was, literally, Hynoskiâs very first carry as a member of the New York Giants.
âThere was no evidence of that ever on film or anything so I think they were just really shocked when I got it,â Hynoski told the New York Post. âIt was a play design just to get the first down and we got a yard extra.â
The bruising fullback knew if he came up short on that third down play it would likely be the final time the ball ever touched his hands. So he churned his feet, bowled forward and made sure he landed on the right side of that first down marker.
