Broncos defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley walked without a noticeable limp as he left the Broncos’ locker room Saturday night, a welcome sign after a scary moment in the first half when he went down after a low block by Seattle guard Robert Gallery.
Bunkley and Gallery were well behind the play, and ball was headed in the opposite direction, when Gallery took Bunkley out. Bunkley appeared to see Gallery coming at the last second — a moment that might have prevented a serious injury. Bunkley did not return to the game.
The Broncos’ other starting defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson immediately started jawing with Gallery, and after the game said that the play was “uncalled for.”
“In preseason right now, we don’t need that. There’s a thing about keeping the players safe. But when you’re doing chop blocks, you’re not keeping anybody safe,” Vickerson said. “That really ticked me off. That was uncalled for.”
