ESPN Cleveland’s Tony Grossi asked Browns President Mike Holmgren about Colt McCoy’s status with the team-
“I asked about whether the team would be able to trade Colt McCoy. Holmgren answered: “I don’t know. He might be here. We’ll see.” Holmgren said he considered Richardson “special” and he “really liked” Weeden. Holmgren intends to address the media with GM Tom Heckert and coach Pat Shurmur at the conclusion of the draft on Saturday.”
Not exactly a ringing endorsement of McCoy. Then again, neither is drafting a QB at #22 in the first round. [Related: Weeden on McCoy: It's out of my hands] [Related: What is the rush to trade Colt McCoy]

  • Hey Heckert and Holmgren ! McCoy might not be the answer but you guys are a couple of scumbags for handling the situation the way you did.I am68 years old and have followed the Browns many years in fact I was in Baltimore in 1964 .Do you have any idea what happened then? This organization has ruined a lot of good football players since comming back.It breaks my heart to have to root for the Ravins, but I dont think I can support a team run by a pack of back stabers.
  • I love the way the Browns handle young quarterbacks don't you? Give them two years at most, surround them with mediocre talent at best, and provide them with mentors who have never started more than a year or two(escept for Delhome), and expect them to take you to the playoffs. Oh, and with Colt McCoy put him under two different offensive strategies while you're at it. Yeah, that's a recipe for sucess. Let's change management and do it again. And people wonder why we continue to lose.
  • I agree. Every two or three years we change QB's, head coaches, staff, schemes,or a combination of these. As fans, we're told there's a plan. We're told to be patient. We're told to wait until next year. I was 9 years old the last time the Browns were champions. I don't have a lot of years left. I'm tired of being patient. I'm tired of the constant rebuilding. I'm tired of waiting until next year. When Shurmer gets fired because we have another losing season, Lerner needs to bring in an experienced head coach that knows how to win and what kind of talent is required to accomplish that.
