Houston Texans star second-year defensive end J.J. Watt leads the league with 20.5 sacks this season. While Watt is a heavy favorite to win the Defensive Player of the Year award (49ers linebacker Aldon Smith — who has 19.5 sacks — is the other), he also believes the race between Broncos QB Peyton Manning and Vikings RB Adrian Peterson for the NFL’s Most Valuable Player should also include the NFL’s sack leader. “Being a defensive player, I want a defensive player to win it, and I think I have as good a chance as any, Watt told Mike Garafolo of the USA Today.  ”And if I’m not even in the discussion, I think it’s going to be tough for anybody to ever get into the discussion again.
