Texans’ Nico Collins Makes Bold Claim For Houston’s Offense
Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins is pumped about the upcoming season with his club and may be putting the rest of the NFL on notice.

It has been a busy offseason for the Texans, as they have made numerous key additions to their roster. The biggest highlight was star wide out Stefon Diggs, whom the team acquired in a trade with the Buffalo Bills.

When asked about Houston’s offense heading into 2024, Collins didn’t mince words.

“Oh yeah, it’s going to be dangerous, real dangerous, man,” Collins said, via Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 Sports. “Adding Diggs to the room, it’s going to be a lot of weapons. There’s going to be great opportunities for everybody. It’s only adding more depth, more weapons to the offense, more weapons to the team. The sky is the limit for us. Can’t wait until the season is going to start.”

Collins is coming off of a fantastic 2023 campaign himself, as he played in 15 games and hauled in 80 receptions for 1,297 yards and eight touchdowns.

Not only do the Texans have Diggs and Collins, but fellow receiver Tank Dell is returning from a leg injury that abbreviated his rookie season. Plus, there is tight end Dalton Schultz, and Houston also signed running back Joe Mix on in free agency.

“Man, it’s nice. I feel like the offense is a lot of weapons,” Collins said. “Everybody has got a chance. When the ball is in their hands, an explosive play is coming. I feel like, for us, we need to continue to work on the details, continue to be us, continue to have fun and show the world what we can do. I can’t wait for it.”

Collins, who played his collegiate football at the University of Michigan, was selected by the Texans in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

The 25-year-old appeared in 14 contests during his rookie year, catching 33 passes for 446 yards and a score. He then posted similar numbers the following season, snaring 37 balls for 481 yards while reaching the end zone twice.

Obviously, Collins broke out in 2023, which may have certainly had something to do with the addition of quarterback C.J. Stroud, who enjoyed one of the best rookie campaigns ever.

Now, Stroud will have no shortage of weapons to throw to, although Nico Collins may still end up being his favorite target due to familiarity and the connection the two have already developed.

We’ll see just how dangerous Houston’s offense is come September.
