The Houston Texans have reportedly agreed to terms on a three-year deal with punter Shane Lechler worth $5.5 million with a $1 million signing bonus, per ESPN’s Adam Shefter.
Lechler has spent his entire 13-year NFL career with the Oakland Raiders since they selected him in the fifth round (No. 142 overall) out of Texas A&M in the 2000 NFL Draft.
Donnie Jones was a very solid punter for the Texans last year, but Lechler is regarded as one of the best players to ever play the position.

The 6-2, 230-pound punter is the NFL’s active leader in career punting average with 47.5 yards per punt.
Houston also had interest in Lechler in 2009 NFL Free Agency before the Raiders retained him at $4 million per year.
