Found March 06, 2012 on Kissing Suzy Kolber:
The month of March has not been kind to the Who Datters. It began with the reports that general manager Mikey Loomis was soft-pedaling the talents of his elite franchise quarterback and then proceeded to get exponentially worse with the fulmination of GregggggggGggggate. If only matters smoothed over, we’d assume that the team might be able to outlast this catastrophe, but, alas, such is not the case. We’ve on the verge on a full-on meltdown. In just the last 24 hours, there’s been a report that Drew Brees is “livid” about getting the franchise tag instead of a long-term deal. Former Saints lineman and fan base favorite Kyle Turley came forward to say that Brees probably deserves to be suspended if he had any knowledge of the bounties. And the team is working out Randy Moss, which isn’t necessarily a terrible thing on its own, unless the intention is for him to replace Marques Colston and/or Robert Meachem, both of whom could leave in free agency. As you can see, the Saints are ple...

NFC South Nuggets: When Drew Brees is Livid, I Am Happy

Welcome to NFC South Nuggets, where the most biased Falcon fan from the Gritz Blitz blog presents some NFC South links in the most biased way possible.  It is a great week around the NFC South if you are a Falcon fan.  Now it is time to "get [our] ducks in a row" as if we were Saints players about to give the NFL "categorical denials" of our activities. ...

Brees surprises with selfish turn

It's a sad day for Indianapolis Colts fans, but a no-brainer for the franchise. So where will Peyton play next? We have an idea. Plus, Drew Brees is selfish and Plaxico Burress gets it. Did I just write that? It's time for a sizzling Schein 9: 1. Selfish Brees The Saints have big issues on their plate. How's that for the understatement of the century? But the...

Please click the link to read the rest of this story to find out what stat Moss could create for himself...

Could the Saints be in the Market for a QB?

The notion seems ridiculous when you consider what the team’s current signal caller has done for the club like setting the single season passing record last year and taking the team to the Super Bowl and winning it just two years ago. Had the announcement come that the New Orleans Saints had signed him to a lucrative multi-year deal it would have come as no surprise, but instead...

It’s NFL Tagging Time

Ever since it’s inception in 2007, the franchise tag has been applied to some of the best players in the NFL. It’s an easy way for teams to keep their stars for at least one more year, without having to sign them to a long-term deal. Teams and players are then able to take the franchise tag year to work out a longer deal if possible. Some players don’t take too kindly to the...

Tracking All Franchise Tags as They Happen

We have now passed “Franchise Friday” and are just over a week away from the NFL’s free agency period. With many big names that could hit the market, teams rushed to try and lock up their star players to long-term deals. There are very few to have done that so far, but there have been a number of teams use the franchise tag. The franchise tag is something a team may apply...

Trouble In New Orleans by G.W. Gras

The world of sports is a funny thing.  One minute - an athlete, coach or franchise can be on top of the world and the next minute, fall flat on their face.  In 2009 the New Orleans Saints stood atop the football universe as Super Bowl Champs.  Every player and coach on that team became hero's to a city that was literally left in ruin due to the devastation left in 2005 by...

With Saints tagging Brees, does this open the door for the Patriots to go after WR Colston or OG Nicks?

The New Orleans Saints used their franchise tag and placed it on All Pro QB Drew Brees.  They had hoped to come to an agreement with their record setting QB, but the last report had the sides $5 million apart per year. By the Saints doing this, they opened the door for other teams to go after their other free agents, such as QR Marques Colston and OG Carl Nicks.  The Patriots...
