Are the Philadelphia Eagles a Super Bowl team?  Is Michael Vick good enough to be considered a potential Super Bowl-winning quarterback? We’ve all thought and talked about these types of things for a while now.  The ultimate goal of every NFL team is to win the Super Bowl.  Numerous things usually have to fall in place for a team to succeed in its goal. Extraneous factors such as injuries, ease of schedule and luck all play a part.  However, there are some things we can all point to as essential for winning a championship. If we believe the masses, including those who run the Eagles, the 3 most important things are having a great (or at least “very good”) quarterback, protecting the quarterback and getting after opposing quarterbacks. Notice a trend there?  Yes, the consensus is that this is a QB-driven league and for the most part, I tend to agree. One needs to just look at what QBs have won the Super Bowl in the past.  Most of them are household names such as Aaron Rodgers, Drew B...

Philadelphia Eagles: Vick to keep starting job

“Michael Vick was our quarterback, is our quarterback, and will be our quarterback.” Those were the words of Eagles coach Andy Reid Thursday as he addressed the media for the first time this week. Vick, who has been severely criticized over the past few weeks, called a player-only meeting at the Nova-Care complex today. It is unknown what was said in this meeting, but I’m...

Andy Reid’s Days Are Numbered In Philly

A long time ago, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie should have parted ways with embattled coach Andy Reid. A long time ago, the Eagles should have moved in another direction for the betterment of their team. The level of tension and criticism, which coaches and pro athletes commonly tolerates on the east coast, is anything but respectful and kind to Mr. Reid. That might be east coast bias...

NFL Rumors: Michael Vick Must Man Up And Stop Blaming Media For Philadelphia Eagles Woes

Michael Vick is pointing a finger at the media for the Philadelphia Eagles’ woes throughout the 2012 NFL season. The Eagles are a disappointing 3-4 this season because of the media. It has nothing to do with the poor play calling of Andy Reid. It has nothing to do with all of Vick’s interceptions and fumbles and poor decisions. It has nothing to do with an overrated defense....

Philadelphia Eagles at New Orleans Saints: Week 9 NFL Pick

Philadelphia Eagles (3-4) at New Orleans Saints (2-5) Andy Reid’s perfect 13-0 career record off the bye is gone. The Eagles are 3-4 and the sky is falling in Philadelphia. This line has shifted 1 point since last week. That might not seem like a whole lot, but a shift from -2 to -3 is huge because about 16% of games end with a final margin of victory of exactly 3, so field goal...

Morning Muse: Eying the enemy – New Orleans Saints edition

As we anxiously await Monday Night Football, a look into the buzz in the Big Easy surrounding the Saints, tonight’s game, and emerging drama surrounding head coach Sean Payton. The Eagles will catch a break–bad pun unintended–as New Orleans running back Darren Sproules is out indefinitely with a hand injury. He is a critical weapon to the team on a number of fronts: Sproules...

2 quarterbacks, 2 increasingly desperate teams

Michael Vick and Drew Brees came into the NFL the same year. Now, they're in the same predicament. Both are the quarterbacks of increasingly desperate teams, the season teetering on the edge of collapse. Brees has essentially become a one-man show for the New Orleans Saints (2-5), who are plagued by a historically leaky defense and anemic running game. For Vick, the stakes...

Do the Eagles Meet ESPN's Super Bowl Criteria?

Is this Eagles team good enough to win a championship?  Are Michael Vick and Andy Reid good enough to be considered a potential Super Bowl-winning coach and quarterback? We've all thought and talked about these types of things for a while now.  The ultimate goal of every NFL team is to win the Super Bowl.  Numerous things usually have to fall in place for a team to succeed...

Saints Nation: Scouting the Eagles

I have to admit that it gets a little old scouting other teams when no matter who the opponent is the result is getting gashed 500+ yards regardless. Maybe this game at home on Monday Night could be the exception? At least Michael Vick has been struggling mightily with turnovers... but the flipside is the Saints' defense is just what the doctor ordered for an overhyped quarterback...

Saints Nation: Fan Predictions for Eagles Game!

A big congrats to JamesMorse for winning this week by picking correctly on the winner (Broncos, which makes me sick), and three of the four categories correctly. JamesMorse now joins AllisonSmith atop the leaderboard with one victory for the season. Nice work James, you're the Saints Nation Guru this week. This week the Saints take on the Eagles on Monday Night. Here'...

Fantasy Football preview for the Philadelphia Eagles, Week 9 at the New Orleans Saints

As many fantasy owners have come to accept, 2012 has not been the year to own Philadelphia Eagles players on your team. Players like Michael Vick and LeSean McCoy have not lived up to their high draft spots while players like DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin have not provided the upside potential many owners hoped for. But that may change for at least this week, as the Eagles are...
