The Rhino and Compass:
Three weeks into the season, and it is very clear that I don’t know anything about football. Oh, would you like me to expand upon that observation? Sure! Let’s look at the teams I picked to win their divisions and see how those teams are doing three weeks into the season, shall we?
NFC East: New York Giants, 0-3 – The Giants have been terrible so far this season. -61 point differential. In THREE GAMES!
NFC North: Minnesota Vikings 0-3 – People pin this solely on Christian Ponder, but the defense has been teeeeerrible. They gave up 30+ to the Browns!
NFC South: Atlanta Falcons 1-2 – A team with a win! Thank goodness for the Rams, I guess.
NFC West: Seattle Seahawks 3-0 – I did it! I picked a team that looks good so far! Playing the Jaguars will do that, though.
AFC East: New England Patriots 3-0 – I’m on a roll!
AFC North: Baltimore Ravens 2-1 – I mean, this looks good, but I should also note that I picked the Browns to make the playoffs.
AFC South: Houston Texans 2-1 – The Texans, while 2-1, are also -12 on point differential.
AFC West: Denver Broncos 2-0 – All right, so maybe I am in rougher shape in the NFC, but the teams I picked to win their divisions are 13-10. 3 games above .500 is not very impressive. My bad.
BEST OF MAXIM
Today Josh Freeman was benched for Mike Glennon, but it could get more difficult for Freeman. Tampa’s Fox Network is reporting that three teams that could be interested in Freeman are Jacksonville, Minnesota or Cleveland. @ODonnellFox13: Look for Jacksonville, Minnesota or Cleveland to make a play for Josh Freeman. I personally would love to see […]
Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder has now been intercepted five times in his first three games.Fantasy Spin:He's only thrown two touchdowns over that span. At least Ponder (25-for-42, 228 yards, one INT) had the decency to rush for 46 yards on five carries Sunday against Cleveland, though it probably wasn't enough to salvage the day for most fantasy owners.
MINNEAPOLIS - Shortly after Sunday's 31-27 loss to the depleted Cleveland Browns, Minnesota Vikings coach Leslie Frazier looked every bit as defeated as his 0-3 team.
Frazier scratched his head lamenting a loss in which his defense came up with four turnovers. Offensive line struggles, an inability to run on one of the league's best run defense and another failure defensively...
WATFORD, England (AP) -- Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder's playing status for Sunday's NFL game in London against the Pittsburgh Steelers is in doubt because of a rib injury.
Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said that practice on Wednesday will "be a big signal in what direction we'll have to go," with a decision expected by Friday.
As if the Vikings needed any more bad news, Christian Ponder is reportedly ailing with a rib injury he suffered in a loss to the Browns. Furthermore, he doesn't exactly sound confident in his ability to take the field on Sunday in London.“If I can’t fulfill my duties, then Matt’s going to step in and play,” Ponder said, according to Tom Pelissero of USA Today. The Matt...
The Vikings are off to a not so hot 0-3 start and the fans are understandably turning their anger towards QB Christian Ponder. Even though he had a couple nice athletic TD runs yesterday, fans don’t view him as the answer at QB. However, their star RB Adrian Peterson believes it’s unfair:
“I got his back. He scored two touchdowns and kept us in the game,” Peterson said...
Vikings fans were angry and booing Christian Ponder off the field after failed drives. Leslie Frazier isn’t inclined to make a change yet, but with the Vikings owners in attendance Sunday in the Metrodome, they had to have heard the booing of Ponder.
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder isn’t very good. Doesn’t take an NFL expert to realize that. Even before he was drafted in the 1st rounds (way too high) I always thought his ceiling was at best a game manager. In the mold of Mark Sanchez with those AFC Championship Jets squads. The Vikings are 0-3 […]
There is a chance the Pittsburgh Steelers might face Minnesota Vikings backup quarterback Matt Cassel and not starter Christian Ponder Sunday as the latter has a rib injury that could keep him out of the game in London.
According to the Associated Press, Vikings coach Leslie Frazier says Wednesday's practice will "be a big signal in what direction we'll have to go."...
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder revealed Wednesday in London that he sustained a rib injury last Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
Ponder said the rib injury occured early in the game but he was able to play through it. He will be limited during the Vikings’ walk-through today.
Despite showing some flashes of promise in the first quarter, the Minnesota Vikings (0-3) were unable to hold their own agains the Cleveland Browns (1-2), stumbling to defeat after yet another series of head-scratching gaffes and miscues. Inconsistent offense The Vikings came out of the gate firing on all cylinders. Quarterback Christian Ponder completed four […]The post Minnesota...
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- The Minnesota Vikings enter Sunday's home game with a sense of urgency following their 0-2 start.
Sunday's opponent, the Cleveland Browns, added to the urgency early this week by making moves at quarterback and running back that sent Minnesota searching for film in preparation. Not only have the Vikings not faced Cleveland since 2009 and the Browns...
If you implemented the wait on a defense plan, then you may be looking for a defense to play this week. I will look at 3 defenses that are owned in less than 50% of Yahoo fantasy leagues and that could be good plug and play options this week.
Chiefs vs Giants
The Giants offense is reeling and going to Arrowhead to play a tough Chiefs D coming off of 10 days rest is not the...
The Minnesota Vikings are already in London, England practicing for their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday. The game, which is part of the NFL International Series, features two the league’s winless teams. Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier told reporters this morning that starting quarterback Christian Ponder was limited in practice while dealing with a rib injury...
Someone will win Sunday’s game between the Cleveland Browns and Minnesota Vikings.
Despite denying reports that they are tanking the season the Brows traded away running back Trent Richadson and will start third string quarterback Brian Hoyer for this game.
Things are not exactly going right for the Vikings either. They are 0-2 and questions are again circulating about the ability...
