Fantasy Sports Locker Room:
Fresh off an impressive performance on Sunday Nate Burleson was listed in our Race to the Waiver Wire this week as a prime target. After all, he played in 62 of Detroit’s 67 snaps this weekend catching six balls for 116 yards on 9 targets against the Redskins. However, for the second straight year Burleson has been felled by a significant injury. This one happened while away from the football field, as ESPN is reporting that he is slated for surgery on a broken arm following a single car accident.

Fortunately for Lions fans and for fantasy owners seeking a WR fix Ryan Broyles returned to action for Detroit this week. He played in just 17 of the teams 67 snaps in his first action this season but made good on all three targets he received for 34 yards. It was already expected that the second year receiver would be due for an increase in use as the season moved along, but as of now he figures to take the majority of Burleson’s snaps. He may continue to ease into the offense as the Lions have some concerns about his knees coming off an ACL injury but he may contribute to fantasy lineups as early as this weekend.
With Calvin Johnson continuing to dominate, and thus draw attention from, opposing secondaries there will be plenty of targets available for the speedy Broyles who posted a number of fantasy relevant weeks last season before an injury of his own.
Get a claim in for Broyles and reap the benefits in Detroit’s pass happy offense.

Lions receiver Nate Burleson, who had a breakout game in Week 3 with six catches for 116 yards, broke his arm in a one-car crash late Monday night.Fantasy Spin:It's a tough break, pun intended, as it will give young and talented receiver Ryan Broyles a chance to become the No. 2 receiver behind Calvin Johnson.

Nate Burleson’s injury is a pretty ridiculous story, but it also might be a blessing in disguise for the Lions. Burleson’s numbers might look good (19 catches for 239 yards), but he has one of the easiest jobs in football, with Calvin Johnson opposite him, Matt Stafford throwing to him, and one of the pass happiest coaching staffs in football. The 32-year-old...
