It was expected that Felix Jones’ role would be reduced once tailback DeMarco Murray recovered from the sprained left foot he suffered in October and was cleared to play. But since Murray’s return on Dec. 2, Jones has been on the field for a grand total of 32 snaps and has touched the ball 12 times. In a 34-31 overtime loss to New Orleans on Sunday, Jones didn’t have a carry or a reception. The marginalization of the Cowboys’ 2008 first-round pick, head coach Jason Garrett said, has been partly attributed to the running back’s health. Jones has hurt both his knees and underwent surgery on his right shoulder last off-season. “Felix has been dealing with a lot of different injuries over the course of the year, and he’s gotten healthier and healthier as the season has worn on,” Garrett said. “But just the combination has been right to get DeMarco those chances, and we didn’t have that many plays in the ballgame… DeMarco just has been in those situations and we feel good about that, but we also feel good about what Felix has done for us, so it’s not a knock on what Felix Jones has or hasn’t done.” Source: Dallas Morning News
