The Saints wrapped up Training Camp Thursday night with a series of meetings, while some fans no doubt reflected on what a costly off season and preseason this has already been, especially for the Black and Gold's fledgling defense. Linebacker Jonathan Vilma is still in Philadelphia, recovering from a minor knee surgery. The scope means he's done for the rest of preseason, but could possibly return for Week 1 of the regular season. "This is a little different of a procedure, so we will see how he does when he gets back," Coach Sean Payton said. Vilma's surgery is just the latest high-profile test for new defensive coordinator Rob Ryan's scheme. The Saints are also without linebackers Victor Butler and Martez Wilson - although Wilson should return for the regular season. Defensive end Kenyon Coleman is also out for the season. Those losses open a gaping window of opportunity for bubble players hoping to make this roster. For instance - inside linebac...

The post bounty gate New Orleans Saints have all their parts back, and are looking to move on from the longest year in franchise history. Remember that scene in Forrest Gump when Bubba Blue describes all of the different ways one can cook shrimp? You can barbecue it, broil it, bake it, sauté it, pan-fry it, deep fry it, or stir-fry it. Payton pleased to see Allen on opposite sideline

Dennis Allen didn't get a chance to match wits against his former boss when New Orleans visited Oakland last season. Allen was a defensive assistant for Payton...

Saints Nation: Saints Move to 2-0 In Preseason by Beating Raiders 28-20

A weird ebb and flow to this one saw the Saints go up 23-0, then give up 20 straight, before rattling off the last 5 points of the game to seal it. Overall the improvements were significant, but there were still a lot of problem areas with penalties and turnovers. It must be said the competition was quite poor and I felt the Raiders as a team look in really rough shape at the moment...
