One of the requirements of being an NFL owner should be to have an active Twitter account. That's a requirement that Colts owner Jim Irsay would have no problem fulfilling. Sometimes it can get him into trouble too as is the case with his tweet about Robert Griffin III.

A Luck private workout 2day..we want 2b as thorough n disciplined n process of #1 pick..we wanted 2do private with RG3,but his agent said no

— Jim Irsay (@JimIrsay) April 3, 2012

The statement is a generically short tweet, but it reveals a lot about Robert Griffin's opinion of the Colts. It says even more that he'd rather be drafted by the Washington Redskins than the Indianapolis Colts.

The key point in Irsay's tweet is that he makes it clear that the agent said no, not Griffin. While that's a polite way of blaming someone other than Griffin, it's also a poorly constructed deflection. If Griffin wanted to have any chance of playing in Indianapolis, he'd want to give the Colts a private workout. In other words, Griffin didn't want to have a private workout with the Colts, and he let his agent know about it.

While this most recent development isn't earth shattering by any stretch of the imagination, it does further the thought that the Colts will be locked into drafting Andrew Luck by the time the draft rolls around. All signs have pointed to Andrew Luck heading to Indiana, and no recent developments have led us to believe otherwise even as some analysts have vocally suggested that Griffin should be the Colts' pick with the top pick of the draft.

  • Good for RGIII - after the way Irsay showed Manning to the door - and his team went from a top 10 team to a bottom feeder - why the heck would he want to work out for them. They aren't going to pick him - it would be a waste of time. RGIII hasn't signed a contract yet or has he? - but he's already signing Redskin stuff and is pretty much assured that he'll be the Redskin's pick at #2. The workout would be meaningless and it's getting a little late in the game to come courting now!
  • Good for RG3, I'm glad he chose not to be part of Irsay's game and I think RG3 wants to be the face of DC. I'm sure that makes The Redskins Happy.
  • I would rather go to INdy long term than DC LOL

    ANY DAY
  • No it was a"Stupid" thing to do. If the Colts want to see him workout there must be at least a little interest... If a workout gets him drafted in the #1 spot to the Colts the difference in $$$Money$$$ for a #1 pick overall is huge. Andrew Luck will go #1 overall and sign a $100 million dollar contract. Lets see what the Skins give the number 2 pick... something like 3 years at 4 or five Mil a year and incentives. he'll have to produce to get more Money later. And by the way... He won't produce squat with the Skins. Luck won't win right away either but he won't care. "Stu..u..u..uuu..pid"
  • The last guy to do this was Ryan Leaf. We all know how that turned out. I will be interested to see who is the most valuable QB this season, Manning, Luck, Tebow or RG. I wouldn't feel too sorry for Manning, he made well over 25 million without taking a snap last season. Besides, Harbaugh was shown the door when Manning was drafted. It is a business!
