PLAYERS: Jim Irsay
TEAMS: Indianapolis Colts
One of the requirements of being an NFL owner should be to have an active Twitter account. That's a requirement that Colts owner Jim Irsay would have no problem fulfilling. Sometimes it can get him into trouble too as is the case with his tweet about Robert Griffin III. A Luck private workout 2day..we want 2b as thorough n disciplined n process of #1 pick..we wanted 2do private with RG3,but his agent said no — Jim Irsay (@JimIrsay) April 3, 2012 The statement is a generically short tweet, but it reveals a lot about Robert Griffin's opinion of the Colts. It says even more that he'd rather be drafted by the Washington Redskins than the Indianapolis Colts. The key point in Irsay's tweet is that he makes it clear that the agent said no, not Griffin. While that's a polite way of blaming someone other than Griffin, it's also a poorly constructed deflection. If Griffin wanted to have any chance of playing in Indianapolis, he'd want to give the Colts a priv...

  • Good for RGIII - after the way Irsay showed Manning to the door - and his team went from a top 10 team to a bottom feeder - why the heck would he want to work out for them. They aren't going to pick him - it would be a waste of time. RGIII hasn't signed a contract yet or has he? - but he's already signing Redskin stuff and is pretty much assured that he'll be the Redskin's pick at #2. The workout would be meaningless and it's getting a little late in the game to come courting now!
  • Good for RG3, I'm glad he chose not to be part of Irsay's game and I think RG3 wants to be the face of DC. I'm sure that makes The Redskins Happy.
  • I would rather go to INdy long term than DC LOL

    ANY DAY
  • No it was a"Stupid" thing to do. If the Colts want to see him workout there must be at least a little interest... If a workout gets him drafted in the #1 spot to the Colts the difference in $$$Money$$$ for a #1 pick overall is huge. Andrew Luck will go #1 overall and sign a $100 million dollar contract. Lets see what the Skins give the number 2 pick... something like 3 years at 4 or five Mil a year and incentives. he'll have to produce to get more Money later. And by the way... He won't produce squat with the Skins. Luck won't win right away either but he won't care. "Stu..u..u..uuu..pid"
  • The last guy to do this was Ryan Leaf. We all know how that turned out. I will be interested to see who is the most valuable QB this season, Manning, Luck, Tebow or RG. I wouldn't feel too sorry for Manning, he made well over 25 million without taking a snap last season. Besides, Harbaugh was shown the door when Manning was drafted. It is a business!

Griffin tells Colts he won’t workout for them

A lot has been said over the last few days about the Indianapolis Colts interest in Robert Griffin III, and now word is that he is refusing to meet with the team for a private workout, according to team owner Jim Irsay. GM Boot camp lesson 3

My advice today for GMs is considerably more simple than the previous lessons: make the most of what you have today. Ryan Grigson: LISTEN UP! The average tenure for a general manager with a team (excluding dictators Jerry Jones and Mike Brown) is 4.2 years. The median for GMs is 3 years. Coaches fare a bit worse with an average of 3.3 years and a mean of 2 years. In other words...

Irsay: RG3 declined to work out for Colts

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay claimed Tuesday that quarterback Robert Griffin III declined an invitation to work out privately for the team. The statement from Irsay, if confirmed, appeared to cement the notion that the Colts will select former Stanford star Andrew Luck as their replacement for Peyton Manning. Luck will work out for the Colts on Tuesday in Indianapolis, and...

What was Jim Irsay thinking?

On March 7th, Jim Irsay announced to the Colts faithful that after 14 happy years, he and Peyton Manning were going their separate ways.  It was not personal.  It was just business.   Irsay started dismantling the Colts squad by getting rid of the one player whose absence transformed the team from a contender into a bottom-feeder.   Manning was scooped up by the Denver Broncos...

Colts aren’t the only team Robert Griffin III won’t work out for

According to Baylor University’s assistant athletic director Heath Nielson, quarterback Robert Griffin III will not hold any private work outs for any of the 32 NFL teams.  Instead he decided to limit his work to the Baylor pro day. Now that we have the complete story, Colts owner Jim Irsay doesn’t need to wonder why RGIII decided to not work out for his team. It’s interesting...

Jim Irsay Tweets RGIII’s Agent Declined Private Colts’ Workout

It has been widely speculated that the Indianapolis Colts will draft Stanford’s Andrew Luck with the #1 pick in the upcoming NFL draft. RG3 Turns Down Workout With Colts

So we all know the Colts are most likely drafting Stanford QB Andrew Luck.  According to this tweet sent out by owner Jim Irsay they wanted to make the process as fair as possible and give Baylor QB RG3 a private workout to see what he's got.  RG3's agent denied the private workout, and that says a lot about where his head is at.  Washington.  The Colts have no defense...

RGIII’s Agent tells the Colts No to a private workout

The quest to be the number one overall pick is still a tight race. Some experts have the Colts taking Stanford’s Andrew Luck, whole some have the new face of the franchise coming from Baylor in Robert Griffin the third. But things may have just changed. A tweet sent out by Jim Irsay this morning indicates that the Colts are bringing in Andrew Luck to a formal private workout this...

Prima Donna already? RGIII camp calling the shots

Jim Irsay and the Indianapolis Colts have confirmed via Twitter that the Robert Griffin III's camp has declined a request for a private workout. Griffin's agent formally turned down the request, and while Griffin himself didn't do the talking, the writing is on the wall. By not working out for the Colts, it ensures Griffin will be selected by the Washington Redskins...
