Kevin Kolb didn’t touch the field on Sunday vs. the Colts and it’s time to make up for lost time. In the eyes of most, EJ Manuel has pulled significantly ahead of Kolb in the race for starting quarterback after the rookie’s performance over the weekend.
NFL.com columnist Adam Schein is only one of the “experts” to praise Manuel after his weekend performance. In Schein’s column Tuesday he wrote, “There’s no quarterback derby in Upstate New York. If Kevin Kolb is the answer, I would love to know the question… The Bills have a strong running game and underrated weapons in the passing attack. Even though he’s a youngster, Manuel has the skills and leadership to make it click. This Buffalo offense is going to be better than you think.”
Former NFL head coach and current NFL analyst on ESPN Herm Edwards seemed to beat to the same drum as Schein during a Tuesday SportsCenter as well. Edwards also felt that Manuel has distanced himself from Kolb. What might be the most exciting part of Edwards’ anecdote during the SportsCenter Spotlight was that he felt that the Bills have the potential to go 8-8 this season.
But you can’t count out Kolb just yet. After a rough practice Monday, Kolb bounced back Tuesday and had one of his best practices of camp. The veteran highlighted the practice with a pair of 70-yard touchdowns in 11-on-11 drills. The pair of touchdowns he threw to Marquise Goodwin and Da’Rick Rogers demonstrated Kolb’s ability to throw the deep ball which could come in handy if the former Cardinal is starting games for Buffalo in December.
When healthy, we know Kevin Kolb can be a successful quarterback in the NFL. Last season Kolb helped lead the Cardinals to a 4-0 record including an upset victory over the New England Patriots.
If Kolb wants a legitimate shot at winning the Week 1 starting job againts New England he has to do two things: blow the coaching staff away and stay healthy. Yes, the odds are stacked against Kolb, but the race isn’t over quite yet.

As much as the Buffalo Bills want rookie E.J. Manuel to be their starting quarterback this season, they will give veteran Kevin Kolb a fair chance at winning the job by letting him start in this week’s game against the Vikings.

1. Kolb doesn't play in preseason game: Usually when a veteran doesn't play in a preseason game it's not a big deal.In Kevin Kolb's case, it is a pretty big deal. Even though the Bills gave Kevin Kolb the start, it was E.J. Manuel who continued to flourish on Friday night.
Kolb had a dreadful night after missing his receivers numerous times. It’s obvious that he’s not going to win the starting job.
Manuel on the other hand finished the night 10-12 for 92 yards and 1 touchdown.
It was truly impressive how much Manuel was in control of...
The Buffalo Bills entered training camp with E.J. Manuel and Kevin Kolb competing for the starting quarterback job. Kolb, who was signed by the team in the offseason, seemed like the leader to start Week 1 because of his experience. But through two preseason games, it’s looking more and more like Manuel will open the […]
It was beyond shocking that EJ Manuel was the first QB taken in the NFL Draft this past April. And also quite surprising that a signal caller didn’t go until that late in the draft. Especially, when you consider all the teams that badly need a QB.
The Buffalo Bills took EJ Manuel with the 16th pick out of Florida State. The 6-4, 237 pound prospect certainly holds the ball up a...
While E.J Manuel hasnt officially been named the starting QB, the title seems to be somewhat of a formality. E.J Manuel finished the night 10-12 for 92 yds and the TD in just 3 series.

WARNING: This is preseason. Preseason football is a scam. It is crap. Don't read into it at all. Even folks in the media know it is crap sandwich, but they have to find something to talk about. Just realize I'm blogging about it because preseason football is better than no football and I'm bored. Also, if you think I'm a hypocrite for blogging about something I...

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) -- Rookie EJ Manuel took another step toward securing the Buffalo Bills' starting job, and the defense stuffed the Minnesota Vikings in a 20-16 preseason victory Friday night.
Manuel went 10 of 12 for 92 yards and a touchdown through three series in the second half. He out-shined veteran Kevin Kolb, who went 13 of 21 for 111 yards and an interception in...
The charge that the New England Patriots were the NFL’s run heaviest team in 2012 is frequently countered with the fact that they were also among the pass happiest.
It’s the leading cause of cognitive fantasy football dissonance.
I see this on Twitter all the time. People get angry. The “block” button is deployed with malice. Families are ruined. Tears are shed.
