We're in the end of the month of July when NFL training camps are in full swing and teams are testing their signed players with players who weren't drafted but are given the opportunity to try out for the dream of playing for in the league. Two years ago, one of those players that tried out was Victor Cruz. In the 2011 season, Cruz not only made the team but became one of the biggest breakout receivers in the league.  He led led the team to a Super Bowl win and performed a touchdown salsa dance that has become his trademark. Since then he's been in a bunch of commercials and received a new contract extension. He's become so good even Jay-Z signed with him as an agent. But some say he's still underrated. Also, some people say he's not worth the attention as some other players on offense after the Giants had a lackluster defense of their NFL championship crown and with the competition in the NFC stacked with rising stars and power-packed contenders, the Giants m...

New York Giants: Jerry Reese’s notice a Giant motivator

New York Giants general manager Jerry Reese wasted no time in professing what his expectation is of the 2013 NFL season. “All I know is that we’ve been in the playoffs one time in the last four years, and that’s really not acceptable for us,” Reese said before the first day of training camp, according to ESPN.com. “That’s not our standards. That’s not what we shoot...

Aaron Ross says the Giants defensive line is loaded

New York Giants cornerback Aaron Ross believes their defensive line is loaded this season. “Man, we’re loaded,” he said. “It seems like anybody you put in from the D-tackles to the D-ends — (Adrian) Tracy is coming along, (Damontre) Moore the young guy, (Justin) Tuck and them are already proven … but when you see the young guys come in and it seems like there’s not...

New York Giants Training Camp Battles: David Wilson vs. Andre Brown

David Wilson and Andre Brown The New York Giants opened up training camp this weekend with most of the starting jobs already locked up. The one position that is still up grabs is running back, and Andre Brown and David Wilson are the two players fighting for it. Last year, David Wilson burst onto the scene as an excellent kick returner, and only really contributed to the running...

Victor Cruz Says Hakeem Nicks Is Giants’ No. 1 Receiver

Victor Cruz finally got his money from the Giants, but Hakeem Nicks is still patiently waiting for his extension. Nicks miss a good portion of the Giants’ OTAs because of his contract dispute, and it’s held him back some, as he’s currently dealing with a strained groin. There are some concerns among the Giants organization about Nicks and his status, but Cruz is hearing none...

Rueben Randle has been dominant so far in camp for the Giants

With Hakeem Nicks sidelined with tightness ni his groin, second-year Giants receiver Rueben Randle has taken advantage with the reps with the first team offense and has been dominant, according to the New York Daily News. Then again, Rueben Randle showed himself capable of being a deep threat Monday. Nicks didn’t make a single catch — and wasn’t even targeted — so Randle...

Victor Cruz: Hakeem Nicks is Giants' No.1 WR

The New York Giants gave wide receiver Victor Cruz a six-year, $45.879 million deal earlier this month making him the team’s highest-paid wideout on the roster.  But the 26-year-old says he’s not the Giants top receiver. “I think the No. 1 wideout is Hakeem Nicks,” Cruz said on NFL

Jason Pierre-Paul says a week one return may not happen: ‘I’m just trying to come back when I feel like I’m ready to come back’

New York Giants DE Jason Pierre-Paul is on the PUP list as he continues to recover from back surgery and said that he feels like he’s 75 percent healthy at this point. He also didn’t make any predictions about his return date except that the goal was to return when he’s ready, not the Cowboys opener. An already paper thin defensive line needs the young pass rushing demon...

New York Giants’ Eli Manning Believes Playing Another 10 Years is Possible

It’s hard to believe that Eli Manning is already in his 10th season as quarterback of the New York Giants. When looking back, it feels like only yesterday that he was traded from the San Diego Chargers to Big Blue, where he would initially sit behind Kurt Warner to learn, only to be thrust into the New York spotlight against the Philadelphia Eagles (and then the Atlanta Falcons...

No ultimatums, just expectations, from Giants’ co-owner

General manager Jerry Reese kicked off Giants training camp by putting everyone on notice including himself. His boss hasn’t read anyone the riot act but that doesn’t mean he’s remotely satisfied with what has gone down lately. “I think more about the three out of four than I do the Super Bowl’’ Giants co-owner John Mara told The Post yesterday. “It’s sort of the...

Giants OL coach: “My right tackle is David Diehl”

Even though the Giants drafted offensive tackle Justin Pugh in the first round of this year’s draft, it doesn’t sound like they plan on having him start at right tackle this season. “My right tackle is David Diehl. We have a lot of confidence in David Diehl,” said Giants offensive line coach Pat Flaherty, via Ralph Vacchiano of the NY Daily News. Of course there’s always...
