The only lingering or noticeable effect remaining from the ankle injury Blaine Gabbert sustained on Monday was the tape that was evident around the shoe used as a precautionary measure.Other than that, you would have thought this was a new start for the third-year pro out of Missouri. That is how the fifth day of training camp began for the Jacksonville Jaguars on Wednesday. The fans and media watched intently as Gabbert showed more pop in his arm, and a more fluid motion in his delivery. It may have been a sign of things to come, a chance for the most maligned quarterback in the NFL, to prove he is ready to the leader of this offense. And how the Jaguars need him to be that leader.Actually there seemed to be a lot more energy on the field Wednesday as players were in full pads, knocking down sleds on the offensive line, running through line drills on the defensive side of the ball and kick off coverages getting a lot of attention. The Jaguars will practice the next two days and hold a scrimmage in EverBank Field on Saturday evening.Gabbert had an offensive lineman roll into him during practice in the afternoon on Monday. He walked off the field under his own power and was able to attend the team’s walk through later that evening. Tuesday was a day off from practice, giving the 6’5” passer more time to heal and rest.Gabbert is currently in competition for the starting job with Chad Henne. Of the four previous days on the practice field, Tuesday was one where he showed signs of trying to separate himself from Henne in the battle to start the season opener against Kansas City.Wednesday was the first time the Jaguars had worked out in full pads.
