ENGLEWOOD, CO - AUGUST 05: Zane Beadles of the Denver Broncos dives into the mud as rookies partake in the slip and slide fumble drill during training camp at Dove Valley on August 5, 2010 in Englewood, Colorado. (Photo by Doug Pensinger/Getty Images)
The first big splash of the day made by the Jacksonville Jaguars was when it became known about the signing of former Denver Broncos OG Zane Beadles, not even an hour into free agency. Jaguars and free-agent G Zane Beadles have agreed to terms on a 5-year, $30 million deal with $13 million guaranteed, per @caplannfl. — Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 11, 2014 I first reported a few weeks ago that Beadles was on the Jaguars’ radar–turns out I was right. Beadles just fits the mold of what head coach Gus Bradley and GM Gavid Caldwell are looking for, young, talented players who can come in and help the team get better everyday. Sure, it’s a long-term deal… but it is not an over-paid type of deal by any means. Beadles, 27, is an extremely athletic guard who will excel in Jedd Fisch’s zone blocking scheme. Many say this is a bad signing but remember, Denver didn’t use Beadles in a zone blocking scheme. As of right now, Beadles deal includes on $13 million in guaranteed money, putting his base salary at just over $2.5 million a year–not bad at all for a solid starting guard. This is the kind of contract that the Jaguars would’ve likely given to Uche Nwaneri had they kept him, thankfully they got Beadles instead who is a lot more talented. Beadles revealed after the deal was made public, why he chose to sign with the Jaguars. "Everyone says they got somethin good goin down there in Jacksonville." -Beadles — Nae (@ndyWillis) March 11, 2014 The release of Uche Nwaneri isn’t as nearly a problem anymore, Caldwell made it clear that Beadles will start at left guard.
