Balance: Jaguars WR Lee Evans was a product under Head Coach Mike Mularkey in Buffalo between 2004-2005 where he had 9 touchdowns as a Bill. As a veteran, he knows the complexity of his offense that is currently being installed in Jacksonville's OTAs. Mularkey is known to have a balanced attack between run-pass, and wide receivers in particular can accumulate solid numbers in his system (see Roddy White). While in Atlanta, the Falcons had a top 10 offense twice under Mularkey's play calling. Less Predictability: Under Dirk Koetter last season, the Jaguars would line up in run formations if it were a run, even with eight defenders in the box. If it were a pass, it was obvious. Look out Gabbert, they're blizting! Under the new Jaguars offense, we should see less predictability. A lot more WR shifts, movement before the snap, and play action passes to open things up. It is good to keep the opposing defense on their toes, and I think Mularkey and offensive coordinator Bob ...

  • Are you kidding - would love to see what your genious Mularkey would have done with the personnel the Jags had last year. The real need in Jax is a new GM!! Did the jags PR dept write this article or did Gene Smith? Winning at any level comes down to players - who is responsible for bringing in the players in Jacksonville??????

Jacksonville to Jaguars: Your lease is to be terminated

Shad Khan ((ht: firstcoastnews.com)) Really? With all the tumult and rumors that the Jacksonville Jaguars might leave the city and the city terminates their lease with the team? Huh? Jaguars owner Shad Khan is asking the same question tonight after finding out in the Newspaper that the city has found his team in default of their lease and said lease is going to be terminated...

Jaguars WR Justin Blackmon 'Lost' At Times During OTAs

Jacksonville Jaguars wideout Justin Blackmon -- perhaps as much as any rookie in this year's class outside of a handful of quarterbacks -- is being asked to step in and solve problems for his new team right away. At very least, the expectation is that Blackmon gives quarterback Blaine Gabbert a legitimate weapon to throw to starting Week 1. History tells us that receivers, however...

Jaguars sign DE Branch

The Jaguars signed second-round draft pick Andre Branch to a four-year contract. Branch, the 38th overall pick in the draft, was the first of Jacksonville's six draft picks to sign a contract. A four-year letterman at defensive end for Clemson, Branch totaled 17.5 sacks, 33.5 tackles for loss and 197 tackles.

Maurice Jones-Drew lost a step?

Getty Images According to Pete Prisco of CBSSports.com, sources have told him that the belief within the Jacksonville Jaguars organization is that running back Maurice Jones-Drew isn’t as explosive as he once was. This will likely keep the Jags from giving Jones-Drew a new contract, since he already has two years left on his current deal and he’ll be 29 years-old when it expires...

Blackmon frustrated; coach says receiver is 'lost'

Justin Blackmon was the first receiver drafted in the 2012 draft, but that doesn't mean he's immune to the steep learning curve rookies face entering the NFL. Blackmon, a two-time Biletnikoff Award winner as the top receiver in college football at Oklahoma State, missed most of Jacksonville's rookie minicamp with a mild foot injury. He's back on the field, but acclimating...

Jags’ new practice facility is food court-y

With Tropical Storm Beryl making everything in Jacksonville all wet and mushy, the Jaguars were forced to conduct some indoor practices. Being the Jaguars, they don’t have a fancy indoor practice facility (or poles to hold up the tarps they use to cover their upper deck seats, or even a gym membership), so they packed up their **** and practiced on the club level at GenericBank...

Jaguars' best case scenario in 2012

There's been a handful of the always fun "best and worst case scenarios" floating around the NFL in recent weeks. I thought I'd take a stab at giving my opinion of the Jaguars best and worst case scenarios. I'm breaking this into two posts just because there's the potential for me getting long-winded in explaining myself, and I don't particularly like...

Jacksonville Sends Jaguars Lease Default Letter

The City of Jacksonville has charged the Jacksonville Jaguars with defaulting on their lease at Everbank Stadium, according to the Jacksonville Business Journal. The default charge stems from the contract between the city and the team over deciding who runs the stadium. Two companies submitted bids, according to the Florida Times-Union, and the Jaguars chose SMG. However, the city...

Jacksonville Jaguars: Maurice Jones-Drew Wants To Get Paid

It may surprise some NFL fans to find out that Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew led the league in rushing in 2011 with 1,606 yards along with a league leading 343 carries. He also remained productive as a pas receiver with 43 receptions for 373 yards, and scored 11 total touchdowns (eight rushing). He clearly was the centerpiece of a Jacksonville offense that...

The Jaguars are optimistic -- and they should be

I wrote yesterday about the optimism that's running rampant through the NFL at this time of the year, especially inside the Dolphins' organization. Landing HBO's Hard Knocks series should provide the team with considerable exposure as they try to prove their critics wrong. For the first time in a long time, the Dolphins are showing genuine signs of optimism. There&...

Jaguars Think RB Maurice Jones-Drew Has Lost A Step

Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew has two years and $9.5 million remaining on the five-year, $31.35 million contract he signed in April of 2009. When he signed that deal, he had one year left on his rookie deal and that contract made him one of the top-three paid backs in the league. Jones-Drew hasn't participated in voluntary OTA's since his rookie year, according...
