Tight end Marcedes Lewis has signed a five-year contract extension.
A first-round pick out of UCLA in 2006, Lewis has caught 181 passes for 2,224 yards and 17 touchdowns in his 78-game career. Lewis established career-highs in 2010 with 58 receptions, 700 yards receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, earning Pro Bowl honors for the first time in his career.
Lewis received the franchise tag in February, and had signed the $7.285 million tender, but according to Stellino, his new deal is worth just under $35 million with nearly $18 million in guarantees.
Those numbers are slightly higher than the five-year, $34 million contract with $17 million guaranteed that fellow 2010 Pro Bowl tight end Zach Miller received from the Seahawks.
