MVN:
The Florida Times Union is reporting that The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed wide receiver Torry Holt to a 3 year $13 million contract ($20 million with incentives) with $4 million guaranteed. Since I am a typical Jaguar fan I see that Holt will not turn out to be Jerry Porter already, because he will only get $4million for catching ten balls instead of $10 million. Torry Holt is also a 7 time pro bowler and has two Super Bowl appearances which will give real hope to the other naysayers like myself. I understand the last year Holt and Matt Jones had the same numbers but the Rams imploded and are drafting lower than the Jaguars in the draft. I think Torry Holt has answered the question of whether the Jaguars are rebuilding or not, and the answer is, NO!. This acquisition legitimizes the Jags in the fans eyes or in my eyes at least. They are at least trying this year and by adding another receiver in the draft this receiving corp will be better and apparently more active than we have seen in the last two years at least. Unless Maclin or Crabtree are there at eight this Saturdy, and I don't think they will be, The Jags will have to get a receiver in the later rounds which should work out better than getting one in the first. We will see Saturday I guess.
