Maurice Jones-Drew and Jacksonville Jaguars general manager Gene Smith have declined to publicly discuss the running back's fines for holding out for all of training camp and the preseason.
Jones-Drew, however, disputes a report that he was fined $800,000 for the 38-day holdout.
"Make sure you guys report that was false," said Jones-Drew, according to The Florida Times-Union.
CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reported Sunday that Jones-Drew's agent, Adisa Bakari, negotiated $1.6 million in fines down to $800,000 as part of the end of Jones-Drew's holdout.
Jones-Drew hoped to leverage his way to a raise after leading the league with 1,606 rushing yards in 2011. The Jaguars refused to alter the five-year, $31-million deal he signed in 2009.

Jaguars RB Rashad Jennings Misses Another Practice
Jaguars running back Rashad Jennings was a fantasy darling leading up to the regular season, prior to Maurice Jones-Drew ending his holdout. Since then, he has plummeted. Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars: Week 2 NFL Pick
Houston Texans (1-0) at Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1)
Blaine Gabbert looked serviceable in the opener against the Vikings, completing 23 of 39 for 260 yards, 2 touchdown, and no interceptions.
