Can a healthy McCown push David Garrard for the starting quarterback position in 2011? The Jaguars announced on Monday that they have reached an agreement with quarterback Luke McCown on a new deal that will keep him in Jacksonville for the 2011 season. McCown missed most of last season with a torn ACL he suffered in the second regular season game against the Chargers. The Jaguars now have two veteran quarterbacks who know Dirk Koetter’s offense, which is extremely important in the face of the uncertainly that lies ahead this offseason with the lockout. The terms of McCown’s new deal are unknown, but if the Jaguars are looking to add a new quarterback in the draft in April then it is likely that the new contract is short term. McCown’s new deal does, however, make it extremely unlikely that quarterback Trent Edwards will be back in Jacksonville next year.
