This Given Sunday:
The firing of Titans offensive coordinator Chris Palmer came at an odd time, and it's indicative of underlying problems within the organization. The Titans offensive consistently moved the ball against the Jaguars' defense, but their drives generally stalled out, leading to five field goal attempts on the day. From the outside looking in, the move to fire the offensive coordinator appears to have been Mike Munchak's way of saving his own hide, at least for a little while longer. It's hard to imagine the Titans' offense improving over the rest of the season, and the result will likely be Bud Adams cleaning house in early January. Through all the confusion, it seems that Jake Locker's development is being impeded. We've seen solid quarterbacks struggle when there's a constant turnover of offensive coaches. That's exactly what happened to Alex Smith in San Francisco, and the possibility of Locker enduring the same type of fate is becoming more an...

Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams is not pleased with his team. He said so earlier this month, and since then, coordinators and assistants have been wokring in fear of the dreaded pink slip. First to receive his slip is offensive coordinator Chris Palmer, a 63-year-old seasoned coaching veteran.
Mike Munchak has hired veteran coach Tom Moore to help the Tennessee Titans after firing offensive coordinator Chris Palmer and giving the job to Dowell Loggains.
Munchak says Thursday that the 32-year-old Loggains still will call the plays starting Sunday when the Titans (4-7) host Houston (10-1). But Loggains had been the quarterbacks coach, and Munchak says they needed more help...

It seems that the Tennessee Titans are wasting no time making changes to their team. Monday night, the Titans offensive coordinator, Chris Palmer, was fired.
“I appreciate the time and effort he put in here. As an offense, I didn’t feel like we were progressing the way that I had hoped,” says Titans coach Mike Munchak in a statement released by the team.
One of the things I've looked at here over the past couple years from time to time is what effect starting field position has had on how effective the Titans have been at scoring or conceding points. I think the first time I did it was when I tried to compare how the offense fared in 2009 under Kerry Collins to how it fared under Vince Young, and I've kept it up since. I...
