Could the Chiefs be turning to Ricky Stanzi?

Coach Romeo Crennel left the door open for Ricky Stanzi to see game action if Brady Quinn (concussion) isn’t cleared for Week 10. ”We will evaluate it and see which way we go,” Crennel said. We are tentatively expecting to see Quinn back under center versus the Steelers, who should be picked up as a spot fantasy defense start in any league where they remain available. Crennel...

For Chiefs, it'll get worse before it gets better

It has come to this. A Chiefs pal, the reddest of red, on Monday sends over the following text: "Am I wrong for wanting the Chiefs to go 1-15, and rooting for the Browns to win? I feel kind of dirty." Oh, no. No, no, no. Embrace the bad. Embrace the stench. The superb web site ProFootballReference.com, among its other nooks and crannies, quantifies NFL teams by something...

Chiefs' expected dream year falters

Every Wednesday until the Super Bowl, Brian Billick will write a weekly column looking in-depth at different aspects of the modern NFL and will discuss experiences and insights he gained while coaching and broadcasting. The Kansas City Chiefs began the season as co-favorites in the AFC West, and some people even listed them as a dark horse for the Super Bowl. They'd beefed...

Chiefs Jeff Allen left Thursday night’s game with possible concussion

Chiefs LG Jeff Allen left Thursday night’s game against the Chargers with a possible concussion. Allen exited early in the second quarter. He was thrust into the starting lineup in Week 3 after Rodney Hudson was hurt and sent to injured reserve. Allen, a second-round rookie, was replaced in the lineup by veteran Russ Hochstein. Allen was a stud tackle for the Fightin Illini where...

Bowe Chips in 79 Yards vs. Chargers

Chiefs receiver Dwayne Bowe was targeted 10 times in Thursday's game against the Chargers. Bowe caught eight passes for 79 yards but lost a fumble in the first quarter.Fantasy Spin:Bowe came in having caught just six passes for 90 yards in the last two games. We think Matt Cassel is better for Bowe's fantasy value than Brady Quinn but neither quarterback really maximizes Bowe's talent.

It's Only Fitting That This Was a Brady Quinn Line: "Now I'm Done."

Kansas City Chiefs at San Diego Chargers Preview, Point Spread, and Prediction

With the Denver Broncos being the new team to beat in the AFC West, the Chiefs and Chargers are beginning to free fall. The Chiefs have lost four in a row, while the Chargers have lost three. One team will break their streak this week, but it will not be in impressive fashion. Football was probably a lot more fun for Matt Cassel back at Chatsworth High School than it’s been in...

Chargers Tear Through Cassel Walls, Leave Chiefs Looking Like a DoorMatt

So this was it.  This was the night that Matt Cassel could’ve saved his starting job.  Could’ve saved the Chiefs from a 1-7 start and from forcing Chiefs fans into watching the Brady Quinn era unfold before their nearly gouged out eyes.  Cassel could not have asked for a better matchup to prove his mettle as the Chargers ranked 10th worst in terms of fantasy QBs scoring against...

The Best Moments From Chiefs-Chargers

In case you weren’t masochistic enough to tune in for a weeknight game between two doomed head coaches, bad news: neither of them were summarily fired. Also, the game was kinda watchable for only a half and even that’s being generous. A stupid Philip Rivers interception let the Chiefs hang around longer than they had any right to, but Kansas City is full of polite Midwestern...

Chiefs-Chargers Live Blog, Second Half

Well, the Chiefs have still yet to hold a lead at any point in regulation this season. And neither Romeo Crennel nor Norv Turner were fired on the field during the first half. So little reason remains outside of direct rooting interest to tune into this game, yet the quality of the game hasn’t been anywhere as terrible as it could or deserves to be. San Diego started the game with...
