Dear Chicago Bears, it is time for the Jay Cutler experiment to come to a merciless end. He's not having fun, and neither are Bears fans. It's time to say goodbye.
Look Bears, I know Cutler is under contract through 2013. If the Colts can let Peyton Manning walk, you can let Cutler go, too. It will be painful, I know There's the whole throwing a season in order to move up in the draft thing to consider. Jason Campbell is your backup quarterback, so it's not like your throwing Curtis Painter out there, right?
"Shovel sand, did you say? Please,
tell me more..."But every media outlet from the Chicago Tribune to ESPN is calling Cutler's leadership a joke. How can you take that? I mean, we all remember the wild Jim McMahon years. While he was crazy, when it was time to go to work, he showed up to work. Cutler? If his facial expressions are truly a window into his soul, I know how he feels. I have had jobs like that, where I just didn't want to be there any longer. If someone showed up and said to me, "we'll pay you the same amount to shovel sand," I would have left right then.
And let's face it Bears fans, with that guy up in Green Bay, you need someone that can bring the dagger. Is Cutler that guy? Nope. Not to mention that guy in Detroit. Yeesh.
The schedule this year lends itself to, how shall we put this.... a high draft pick? I know it's early, but the Bears could put themselves in great position for, ohidunno, Matt Barkley. Or Tyler Wilson. Just imagine, you let Dallas win, let Green Bay win the other game against you, let Detroit sweep you, lose against San Francisco, lose against Houston, and figure out a way to lose against either Phoenix or Seattle, you're in the top five draft picks already! And that game against Carolina isn't a gimme any longer.
Now is the time for the Bears to strike draft gold! You can do this. I have faith in you. It's time to cut the strings to the Cutler project. It will hurt, but you'll be better for it.
