Jay Feely scampers for his first career touchdown, helping the Cardinals secure their first victory in the past eight games

Jay Feely had put together an admirable season heading into the Week 14 match up against the Broncos.  He’d only missed one field goal attempt all year, which was from 49 yards. While he did miss one this past Sunday from 48 yards out, he’s probably not too upset about it considering the rest of his day.

The former Jet and Neil Rackers’ replacement had a career day.  He booted five field goals, including a career long tying 55 yarder.  Putting up 15 points and tying a career mark would have been enough for any other kicker, but not Feely.

With the Cardinals facing the prospect of adding yet another field goal instead of a touchdown, Arizona dialed up a play called Wolverine.  Feely, a Michigan product, took the flip from holder Ben Graham and took off for the right pylon.  ”I have decent speed,” Feely touted.  ”I’m getting up there in age, but I kind of like to think of myself as an athlete and not just a kicker.  Hopefully today I did a little bit of both to prove that.”  Feely accounted for every single point when the Cards’ led 22-3 at the start of the 4th quarter.

Not a bad day for a kicker.
