Former Eagles’ linebacker Jeremiah Trotter told defensive end Jason Babin to “get a grip” after he complained about the rude comments he heard from fans during last week’s loss to Atlanta (Credit: AP Photo) Last week, during the team’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons, Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Jason Babin said he was upset by some of the things he heard the fans saying in the stands. “During the game there was a good section of fans chanting some of the most vile things I’ve ever heard,” Babin said, via Geoff Mosher of CSNPhilly.com. “Not just at a football game, but in life, in general. Talking about attacking Coach [Andy Reid], talking about people’s wives and kids and chanting them. And I just thought there was no place for that in the NFL, none whatsoever. Former Eagles linebacker Jeremiah Trotter said despite the inappropriate things fans were saying, Babin needs to get over what the fans were saying and focus on playing football. “Dude, get a grip, this is football,” Trotter said, via Phillymag.com. “You’re a man. Why are you worried about what people say anyway? I understand that players have feelings, but you’re a man. You’re playing a gladiator sport, and you’re running around worried about what fans are talking about? Even if I did feel a certain way you would never hear me say it because number one, you are showing your weakness right there. You’re playing a gladiator sport, dude. Go play ball.” Trotter pointed out that complaining about the fans isn’t going to change the way the fans act, but turning it into an issue might serve as a distraction to the team. “When I hear some of this talk man it really, really pisses me off,” Trotter said, “because you’re focused on the wrong thing. You should be focusing this week on the Saints, not focusing on what the fans are saying, or putting things on Twitter saying this or that. Come on, dude. Go out and win some games. Let the fans do what they’re gonna do. Fans are still going to be fans, and they have every right to boo you if you don’t go out and put a good product on the field.” While I am sure some of the things fans said were disgusting, Babin should know by now not to pay attention to fans. Not only are Philadelphia fans known for their inappropriate behavior, but most NFL fans can be crude and rude. Babin needs to learn to ignore the fans and focus on football. The Eagles troubles have come on both sides of the ball this year and Babin needs to help lead on the defensive side of the ball if the team is going to be successful.
