Found September 15, 2009 on NE Patriots Draft:

Photo Courtesy of  Winslow/Towson AP Patriot fans were greeted with a sickening sight for the 2nd straight home-opener, as defensive captain Jerod Mayo went down with a knee injury early in the game against the Buffalo Bills. Trainers were seen working on Mayo's left knee, and Mayo was seen flexing the knee and walking with a slight limp.

Patriot fans have reason for hope though, as multiple players said that Jerod Mayo was "in good spirits" at halftime, and one Patriot stated that Mayo had told him that it "was nothing serious". Mayo is known to be somewhat oblivious to pain and played through a torn-up shoulder for the majority of his rookie season.

Bill Belichick has never been too forthcoming with injury information, so you must take all information with a healthy dose of salt. When Jerod Mayo suits up for a game, I will be convinced that he is healthy.
