Judging by the statements made by Jerry Jones over the past few days, he obviously has tremendous respect for the Philadelphia Eagles. Much of that comes from the 34-7 beat down that Philly handed the Cowboys in late October. During that lopsided defeat, Eagles quarterback Michael Vick had one of his best games of the season. The Cowboys owner and general manger understands that for the Cowboys to have success on Saturday, Rob Ryans defensive unit will have to contain the multi-talented playmaker. "We couldn't be up against a bigger challenge for a defense than we are against Michael Vick, Jones said Tuesday morning during his weekly radio interview on 105.3 The Fan (KRLD-FM). "Our game against him and then the game you saw the other night when the Jets played him makes that a big point. This certainly will be a trying and challenging week for our defense. Our defense has a chance to be one of our best assets, in the top two or three, and I think it can get there right about this time." Jones later added that defenders up front like DeMarcus Ware, Anthony Spencer and Jay Ratliff will need to "beat somebody in order for Ryans group to provide adequate coverage in the secondary. "You know you're giving up something when you're trying to add something to the rush," Jones said. "When you do, you hope Vick doesnt burn you." But it certainly isn't like Jones to dedicate an entire interview to praising an opponent. No, he found time to mention that the "stage is set for the Cowboys to do something special." "We're a team that could get on a roll," he added. "We have a talent level to have some fun here during the next two games and the playoffs if we can get there." -- Follow Jon Machota on Twitter: @jonmachota
