PLAYERS: Tony Romo
TEAMS: Dallas Cowboys
Jerry Jones in a radio interview gave some thoughts on his QB’s status in the league when asked about Romo being top 4. “You can be a hell of a passer, now, and still not win these games,” Jones said on KRLD 105.3 FM “The Fan” on Tuesday in his weekly radio appearance. “You can be a heck of a quarterback and not win them. … By all accounts, (Rivers) is a top quarterback out there in San Diego, and yet, they had won one out of three. You’ve got to have a lot of things going for you. It’s obviously a lot of people involved that lost the game out there the other day for the Cowboys, and we’ve got to get them going in the right direction.”-BlackSportsOnline.com Romo has certainly made some plays and has some talent but his status in the league is very much questionable and I’m sure most people would include wins in their QB rankings criteria.   Need NFL Tickets? Tony Romo calls out Broncos secondary: 'They grab, they hold'

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo did well to create some classic bulletin board material for the Denver Broncos ahead of their clash in Texas on Sunday.Romo, who has thrown eight touchdowns and only one interception this season, called out the Broncos secondary for what he believed to be extremely physical play using "little tricks." “They grab, they hold, they’ve...

Romo on putting in 'Manning-type time on the job'

IRVING, Texas -- After Tony Romo signed a new contract in the offseason, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said his quarterback would be putting in "Peyton Manning-type time on the job" around the practice facility. Now Romo is facing Manning's Denver Broncos on Sunday, and it's clear that Jones' statement was no swipe at Romo for not spending enough time preparing...

Tony Romo: Broncos secondary grabs and holds

As the Dallas Cowboys get ready to face off against the Broncos this Sunday,  quarterback Tony Romo decided to call out Denver’s secondary for the way their style of play. “They grab, they hold, they’ve almost put a lot of pressure on the refs – whether or not they’re going to call the game close or not,” Romo said on a conference call with reporters in Denver, per USA...

Romo needs to take more chances to beat Denver

If Jerry Jones was telling the truth when he said Tony Romo would have a lot more say in the game-planning process this season, then it's time for the quarterback to get a little greedy. On the surface, the fact Romo's only thrown one interception through four games should be cause for celebration. His only interception of the season came in the season-opener against the...

Michael Irvin: Tony Romo is best quarterback in the NFC, period

Tony Romo is off to a hot start to the 2013 season, despite the Dallas Cowboys’ 2-2 record. He was sharp in a loss to the San Diego Chargers on Sunday and has a quarterback rating of 105.0 through four games this year. That’s almost a full ten points above his career QB rating. However, […]

Tony Romo Improves His Throwing Motion

The Cowboys may be 2-2 to start the season, much as they did the last season, but one player who has performed (and improved) is Tony Romo. In a conference call with Denver media, Tony went into detail about how changes in his throwing mechanics have allowed him to approach the game in a calmer and steadier manner than he has in the past. Per Charean Williams of the Star-Telegram...

From the fine folks at the Yardbarker Network: Tony Romo is off to a hot start to the 2013 season, despite the Dallas Cowboys’ 2-2 record. He was sharp in a loss to the San Diego Chargers on Sunday and has a quarterback rating of 105.0 through four games this year. That’s almost a full ten points above his career QB rating. However, Romo has become known as a player...

Jerry Jones Calls for More Throws to Dez Bryant

Jerry Jones is never shy about his opinions about what can make the team better, and he had his own coaching tips for Tony Romo today. His advice? Find Dez Bryant more, even if the insanely talented wide receiver is double covered. Here's Jones as the ultimate Dez Bryant hype man, per NFL.com: "The same kind of throw you throw to him in the end zone...

Michael Irvin: Tony Romo Is ‘Best QB In The NFC, Period’

I said this before Michael Irvin did, but if it sounds better coming from the Hall of Famer, I’m all for it. Tony Romo is off to a sizzling start this season, and he is not the reason the Cowboys are 2-2 after blowing a lead to the San Diego Chargers. According to the Dallas Morning News, Irvin and a few other colleagues on the NFL Network’s Sunday pregame show deemed Romo,...

Jerry Jones to Romo: Throw Dez Bryant the ball even when he’s doubled

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wants quarterback Tony Romo to throw the ball to wide receiver Dez Bryant even when he’s double-covered. “The same kind of throw you throw to him in the end zone the other day that he made that catch,” Jones said Tuesday morning on KRLD-FM via THe Dallas Morning News. “He can make that catch with two people on him.

Decoding Callahan - The Troubling Evolution Of The Road Game Plan

From an offensive point of view, Sunday was an odd game to evaluate. On one hand, they protected the ball relatively well (until the fumble into the end zone), protected the QB reasonably well, and ran the ball impressively. On the other hand, they only accumulated 317 yards of total offense, converted very poorly on 3rd Downs (3-9), and barely spent 25 minutes on the field. None...

Houston restaurant takes shot at Matt Schaub

It’s safe to say that Matt Schaub is the new Tony Romo. The Houston Texans quarterback has thrown six interceptions through four games this season, including a pick-six in three straight games. Two of the interceptions returned for touchdowns came late in the fourth quarter (first against Tennessee and then against Seattle). Both pick-sixes resulted […]

Cowboys Right On Track For Another Average Season

This season is supposed to be different for the Dallas Cowboys. They brought in a new offensive coordinator in Bill Callahan and a new defensive coordinator in Monte Kiffin. Quarterback Tony Romo, who recently signed a 6-year, $108 million dollar contract extension ($55 million guaranteed), is having more say-so on what plays the offense will run. The defense would be better than...

Cowboys-Chargers Instant Trivia: Very Premature Projections

The Cowboys are 2-2 for the third consecutive year. The team is 18-18 during that time. Heck, the team is 130-130 since the 1997 season. If everything in the NFL, and especially the NFC East, remains the same for the rest of the season, the Cowboys could make the playoffs even with an 8-8 record. In fact, if the regular season ended today, the Cowboys would host a playoff game as...

ROMO CALLS OUT DENVER DEFENSE HOPING REFS MAKE CALLS!

Romo believes the Broncos secondary hasn’t been exposed with enough penalties and wants refs to pay attention. Perhaps seeking any advantage he can get in Sunday’s mega match up with the undefeated Denver Broncos, Dallas Cowboys QB TONY ROMO told reporters that the Broncos talented secondary likes to hold and grab receivers a lot more than they ought to get away with. ...
