Its Jason Garrett’s show now and he better make the best of it, owner Jerry Jones said in so many words. Jones had been vocal about making changes that would get the Cowboys over the hump, but now those changes are Garrett’s, and so are the consequences. There are some that think Garrett is a dead man walking, the gutting of his staff was a foreshadowing of Garrett’s future. The only thing that will save him is winning, because Jones already sounds like he’s eyeing his next head coach. Whenever someone speaks in the tone of “He’s calling the shots, not me,” Jones is distancing himself from Garrett and his choices. “He could have very easily come back to me and say, ‘I’m going to call plays on game day,’ or, ‘I’m going to let Bill call plays on game day and I’ll be on the sideline vetoing or saying OK and let somebody else do the game planning,’” Jones said, via Todd Archer of ESPNDallas.com.  “That’s what’s being worked out.  Whatever he comes up with is the way we’re going to go.” "However he comes up with, all I've stated is that it's no longer a prerequisite of mine that [Garrett] be the play caller," Jones said. "This is not a way to buy time," Jones said. "This is a way to take the players we've got and the ones we don't and are going to get and basically get out here next year and win more games." "He made the coaching changes and made the hires," Jones said, later adding, "If you look at how the staff is made up and how the decisions were made it's got all kinds of Jason Garrett connections to it."     var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
