It’s never a good sign when he owner is calling the shots, Jerry Jones the self appointed general manager said Tuesday that Bill Callahan will be calling the plays for the Dallas Cowboys offense next season. Coach Jason Garrett had been calling the plays, but since the season ended on a sour note, Jones moved in to shake things up. Despite the firing of defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, this was a major blow to Garrett, and it sets up a showdown that could quickly become a parting of ways. According to Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com, Jones stated that Garrett wouldn’t be the offensive play caller any longer, and that offensive coordinator/line coach Bill Callahan would take over the duty. Callahan before working for the Cowboys was the offensive line coach for the New York Jets, but he didn’t call plays there. However, Callahan called plays as a head coach for the Oakland Raiders in the 2002 and 2003 seasons. However, the bigger twist is if this is enough to be the straw tha...

  • jerry,jerry,jerry.....the curse you have bestowed on America's team is so far reaching that if you open the roof on Jerry World you can see the next inhabitable planet with specimens running around for players, coaches, and yes...quarterbacks ! Phone home Jerry !!!
  • Jerry Jones is like a politician that tells so many lies he can't remember them all. Of course its a demotion, Jed. Everyone knows it, so why try to spin it. Everyone knows Garrett is your puppet anyway, so why does it matter. Everyone knows you will take credit when the team wins and pass blame when it doesn't. Everyone knows the team will blow up next year, as a result of some of your stupid decisions.
  • Not a surprise nor does it upset me. Garrett's play calling has always been too conservative. He plays not to lose. Jerry wants to change coaches but doesn't want to appear that he fired him. Jerry is a coward and he blames everyone but himself. This Cowboy fan since day one is really getting fed up with all of this.
  • The cowboys and jones are like the flu epidemic...getting worse every year!!!
  • Jerry.... Gallic and I are on the same page. Bill Callahan won't do any better. Do you know why? Because he still has to call the plays with the team YOU put on the field. Keep lying to yourself that you are a "football man". We (old Cowboy's fans) don't really care. In fact, we are having almost as much fun watching you twist in the wind as we did watching Jimmy's team win. On top of the twisting, we get to listen to your verbal diahrea explaining how it is everyone else's fault. This comedy rivals The Big Bang Theory. Till next time, Love ya Jer.
  • I could call plays better than what has been happening. How long did Garrett expect to continue the mediocre performance? I have watched the Boys for 50 years now and I regularly sit on the couch in my armchair coaching role and I routinely make the play call best suited before it is executed. I can't quote how many plays I make a better call on than the latest would-be coach but it's a LOT. Even though I'm retired, at least I'm a TEXAN and proud of what happens in my state as opposed to some of these out of state money making carpetbaggers. Gimme a shot Jerry!!
  • I watched the Cowboys when they weren't the Cowboys and played their games in the Cotton Bowl. I followed them faithfully right upto the time Jones fired Landry. since then I could give a crap what they do. my teams are the Texans, Rangers and Stars.

Lovie Smith to the Dallas Cowboys in 2014?

There are a couple of reasons for this possibility, but you have to look at the facts first. The first fact is Jerry Jones has hired Monte Kiffin...

Jerry Jones asks Tony Romo critics, who would you rather have at quarterback?

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is one of the most heavily scrutinized players in the NFL.  His critics had more ammunition after Romo threw a fourth quarter interception during the Cowboys’ week 17 match up with the Redskins that would ultimately decide who won the division and clinched a playoff berth.  The interception ended up costing the Cowboys the game. “Tony is...

Over the years the Dallas Cowboys have made questionable decisions with free agency. In past seasons the Cowboys have seen the talents of tight end Martellus Bennett leave only to go to divisional rivals, the New York Giants, to become a star, and receiver Laurent Robinson escape to Jacksonville to compete for the Jaguars' top receiving job.Bennett made the Cowboys pay for...

Dallas Cowboys Super Bowls past and passed

Painful even now While Jerry fiddles and (Jim) Rome burns, the Dallas Cowboys have quietly passed the torch to other teams. Like an Olympic runner carrying the torch (if the runner was falling down drunk and weaving in and out of traffic), Jerry has passed the Super Bowl supremacy torch to some of the Cowboys’ most hated rivals. While the Steelers were the first team to reach four...

Jason Garrett will no longer call plays on offense for the Dallas Cowboys, owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday in a report from The Dallas Morning News. Jason Garrett No Longer Calling Plays for Cowboys

It’s a conversation we’ve been having for weeks in regards to what were the other changes Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had in mind when he said he would shake things up. Jones has already replaced Rob Ryan and his 3-4 defense for Monte Kiffin and the 4-3. Jones hired Rod Marinelli to coach and toughen up the defensive line. Now, according to ESPN Dallas, Bill Callahan will...

Callahan speaks out on 'sabotage' allegations
