The New York Jets have agreed to terms on four-year deals with two of their seven draft picks: offensive lineman Brian Winters and fullback Tommy Bohanon. Winters' agent Joel Segal confirmed the agreement Thursday night, but declined to give financial details. The deal is believed to be for close to $3 million. Winters, a third-rounder out of Kent State, is expected to compete for one of the Jets' two vacancies at guard. A person familiar with the deal tells the AP that the contract for Bohanon, a seventh-rounder from Wake Forest, is worth $2.2 million. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the Jets had not announced the deals. Bohanon will compete with Lex Hilliard and could serve in an H-back role in new coordinator Marty Mornhinweg's offense.

New York Jets – Exploring Potential Of Ivory/Goodson Backfield

The New York Jets haven’t had a flashy off-season but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been productive. There has been measured progress at a variety of positions but the most notable infusion of talent has occurred at running back. Plodding Shonn Greene was wisely allowed to leave in free agency and in his place the Jets added a duo of backs with immensely high potential, Chris...

Tim Tebow isn't good enough to be a distraction

Is Tim Tebow being blackballed by the NFL? The short and simple answer is that Tim Tebow is not good enough as a player to be a distraction in the NFL, and the media circus around him is a distraction. There's no question Tim Tebow is one of the biggest media stories as an athlete. Forbes just named him America's most influential athlete. The Onion just named him America...

Santonio Holmes says he’s not healthy enough to play in a game yet

New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes was a guest on Pro Football Talk on the NBC Sports Network and admitted that he’s not healthy enough to play in a game right now.  He’s continuing to recover from Lisfranc surgery on his foot. Holmes was also asked why he was willing to restructure his contract this offseason.  He made it clear that he wants to only play for the Jets...

Santonio Holmes still believes in Mark Sanchez

He may be misguided in his support, but at least New York Jets receiver Santonio Holmes is sticking to his guns despite the team stating that their will be a definite offseason quarterback competition for the teams' starter. When asked who will be the starter come September, Holmes replied, "right now Sanchez,” he said during Wednesday’s Pro Football Talk on NBC Sports...

A rival NFL executive predicts that David Garrard will be the starting quarterback for the New York Jets in 2013

Provided the rusty 35-year-old remains healthy, one rival executive predicted to NFL Network’s Kim Jones that quarterback David Garrard will start Week 1 for the New York Jets against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on September 8. Tentatively slated to battle rookie Geno Smith and abysmal chucker Mark Sanchez for the starting job, the 6-foot-1, 235 pound Gerrard could be an ideal Band...

Santonio Holmes wants Mark Sanchez as his starting QB

Since Jets’ receiver Santonio Holmes can’t play yet, it seems he has taken it upon himself to decide who will be the starting quarterback this year. According to Conner Orr of the Star-Ledger, this is what Holmes had to say. On the quarterback competition: “Right now, it’s Sanchez and that’s who we’re going with and we’re going to continue on this road until time permits...

Fantasy Football: Chris Ivory’s Breakthrough

It’s time to get excited about Chris Ivory’s 2013 fantasy football outlook now that he’s a member of the New York Jets. The talented runner that combines size (5’11.5”, 222 lbs) and speed (4.48 40-yard dash) has battled through injuries and lack of opportunity since college, but his perseverance may finally be rewarded as he gets his chance to shine in the National Football...

Playoffs?!? Where do the Jets stand now?

The Jets are in rebuilding mode. Once the draft is over and camps start up, fans start looking to the season ahead, and wondering if their team has what it takes to get into the postseason. At the end of last season I didn’t think there was any way they were making the playoffs in 2013, but at that time John Idzik wasn’t in control. He has turned the team around more...

Idzik Goes Receiver Shopping

When John Idzik took over the Jets everyone knew he had a lot of work to do to turn this team around. When free agency started Idzik made a few under the radar/affordable signings (Goodson, Barnes, Garay, Colon), but it was the amount of players he let walk (not even really attempting to re-sign) that grab the media's attention. Then came the Revis trade and the draft and even...

Tim Tebow appears at lecture

Eleven days after he was cut by the New York Jets, Tim Tebow's future plans remain up in the air. Since his release, Tebow has not spoken publicly about the dismissal or what his next move will be. Does he feel jilted by the Jets? Does he have any other NFL prospects? Would he consider the Canadian Football League? Tebow didn't offer any insight Thursday night during a...

All in the Family

After watching their Pro Bowl safety LaRon Landry walk out the door during free agency, the New York Jets are keeping it all in the family in order to revitalize Rex Ryan's once-vaunted defense.

Report: Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Targeting Geno Smith as Agency’s Newest Client

Welcome to New York, Geno Smith. Late last month, the former West Virginia quarterback fired his agent, Select Sports, after falling to the second round of the NFL draft. Now property of the Jets, Smith is finding that there are perks to being a quarterback in New York City — like being courted by Jay-Z, for one. Early in April, it came out that the rapper-mogul was selling his...

Bank Robber Wearing New York Jets Jersey Goes on Crime Spree in Manhattan, Hitting Five Banks in One Hour

The New York Jets have enough problems this summer to concern themselves with on the field. Unfortunately, Rex Ryan might have to be on the lookout for more than just a starting quarterback. He might also be recruited to help New York police stop a serial bank robber. An unknown person took to Manhattan on Friday for an afternoon crime spree, according to authorities, hitting...
