Jets Elevate Offensive Lineman and Defensive Tackle for Week 13 Game vs. Falcons

The New York Jets activated insurance in the trenches on Saturday, making two call-ups for their Week 13 home game against the Atlanta Falcons.

The team announced that interior offensive lineman Jake Hanson and defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey have been designated as gameday elevations from the Practice Squad. Both players will be available to suit up on December 3 against Atlanta at 1:00 pm ET in East Rutherford.

It's the third of three allowed elevations for Hanson this season. After joining the Jets' Practice Squad on November 6, the 2020 sixth-round draft pick dressed for games against Buffalo and Miami. Hanson logged three offensive snaps in Week 11 before seeing only two snaps on special teams on Black Friday.

Hanson, who possesses snapping ability, fits in as the emergency center for Sunday's non-conference matchup with Atlanta. The Green & White needed to deploy a third center during the Week 8 win over the Giants. Should the Jets want his services past this upcoming game, they will be required to sign Hanson to the 53-man roster.

For Winfrey, it'll be his first appearance as a Jet since arriving as a Practice Squad signee on November 7. The 2022 fourth-round draft pick made 13 appearances for the Cleveland Browns as a rookie. He totaled 22 stops, two quarterback hits and two pass deflections. The Browns waived Winfrey this past summer amidst legal woes.

The 23-year-old Winfrey will reinforce a position group that lost Al Woods to a season-ending injury. The Jets have only three defensive tackles — Quinnen Williams, Solomon Thomas, Quinton Jefferson — on their current 53-man roster.

The Jets made two changes to the active roster on Saturday. In addition to the P-Squad call-ups, New York activated offensive lineman Wes Schweitzer and special teams captain Justin Hardee off Injured Reserve. Creating spots for the two veterans, the team released offensive lineman Xavier Newman and safety Adrian Amos.
