New York Jets G Matt Slauson, 11.22
On how important the offensive line play will be as the Jets face several quality pass rushes in the coming weeks…
Obviously, big, but every week it’s big. You’ve seen what can happen if our line doesn’t perform great, i.e. Baltimore and last week. We put a major emphasis on (ourselves) every week.
On playing with an injury…
After the New York Jets knocked off the Miami Dolphins a few weeks ago, it looked like the Plaxico Burress signing wasn’t working out. He was struggling to consistently stay involved in the offense and looked disinterested at times. Fortunately, over the past few weeks Burress has done a 360 and is both producing on the field and acting like a veteran leader off it.
New York Jets S Jim Leonhard, 11.21
On what the team’s mentality is right now…
I think everyone kind of feels that it’s now or never. We have to play well and we have to play well now. We can’t continue to play inconsistently and we have to go out there and find ways to get wins. It doesn’t have to be pretty, we have to do whatever it takes to come out on top on the scoreboard...
Could LaDainian Tomlinson and Jeremy Kerley be ready this weekend? Apparently they worked out Monday, but were sore enough to stay off the field Tuesday.
Jets coach Rex Ryan said Tuesday running back LaDainian Tomlinson and wide receiver Jeremy Kerley both suffered setbacks in their recoveries from sprained MCLs.
Neither player practiced Tuesday. Ryan said Tomlinson and Kerley...
Reality Check…the 2011 season is over for the New York Jets. They will not make it into the playoffs. There are far too many variables that would have to work out favorably for the Jets in order for them to see the postseason. That is a bitter and crappy reality for diehard fans who thought this would be their year to go all the way.
Some fans, however, refuse to see this and...

Rex Ryan's mouth really cost him this time. The New York Jets' brash coach will not appeal a $75,000 fine issued Monday by the NFL for using profanity while angrily responding to a fan at halftime of a 37-16 loss Nov. 13 to New England. Ryan received an official notice from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. Ryan spoke to Goodell a few days ago to discuss the matter and to apologize to him.

Jets coach Rex Ryan is trying to light a fire under his quarterback, Mark Sanchez. Will taking away some first-team reps do the trick?

This isn’t about the coach’s $75,000 bad word, though maybe the fine will help even Rex Ryan know that sometimes it’s not against the law to have an unspoken thought around the New York Jets.
The decision to give backup quarterback Mark Brunell some snaps with the first-team offense appears to be yet another “I’ll turn this car around right now” threat from coach Rex Ryan to quarterback Mark Sanchez. We know this because Rex reportedly has said at his Wednesday press availability that he can’t envision taking Sanchez out…
