Lal had been interviewed by the team last night and according to the Daily News earlier in the day, it “went extremely well“. Ben Shpigel of the New York Times noted that the Jets had also been considering Todd Haley and Karl Dorrell for the position but ultimately, Lal was their man. Lal spent five years with Oakland and spent the past two seasons serving as their receivers coach.
This seemingly puts the Todd Haley speculation to rest but, Cimini seems to think there is still a chance that they could sign him to a contract. The Jets still have to find a new coach for the offensive line and potentially a new quarterbacks coach if they fire Matt Cavanaugh in the coming days.
