Mason Headed To Big Apple?

More weaponry for Mark Sanchez.

Jets wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery said Thursday he was revealed by the team that he will be cut if free-agent wideout Derrick Mason passes his physical.

The ex-Raven pass catcher is one of the NFL’s most underrated competitors.  For all the credit a guy like Hines Ward gets, Mason should be earning the same accolades.

As a tremendous route runner and possession receiver, the 37-year old Michigan State product will boost Sanchez’s completion percentage.

With the Titans in 2000, Mason set an NFL single-season record with 2,659 all-purpose yards.

Last season in Baltimore, the wily wideout caught 61 passes, for 802 yards and seven touchdowns.

Derrick was selected 98th overall in the fourth round of the ’97 draft by the Tennessee Oilers.

As for Cotchery, he could reunite with former North Carolina State teammate Philip Rivers in San Diego – seeing Malcom Floyd is heading to Baltimore.
