We all know the New York Jets have a lot of decisions to make this season: What to do with Vernon Gholston? Whether they will re-sign Santonio Holmes or Braylon Edwards, and whether LT will be back for another run?
But in announcing that second-year offensive lineman Vladimir Ducasse will be moving to right tackle, the Jets have thrown us all for a loop. Right Tackle is Damien Woody territory. It’s also $4.26 million to keep Woody, who was hampered by knee injuries this season that cost him the final three regular season games and wild-card game.
Ducasse, a second-round pick from UMass, played in only two games as a rookie at left guard. Call it a cost-cutting move or a position switch that the Jets feel Ducasse is up for. Time will tell if Ducasse can replace the security that Woody brought.
At 6-5, 325, Ducasse would be perfect for the position. The question is whether he will be.
