New York Jets owner Woody Johnson told reporters in Indianapolis that he’ll be meeting with quarterback Mark Sanchez next week.
“We’ll be discussing things,” Johnson said. “I always check in on him. He’s very important to the franchise.”
Sanchez had a rough season after being disrespected by wide receiver Santonio Holmes on many different occasions as the season went on.
What’s really interesting about the timing of the meeting between Johnson and Sanchez is that if the Jets decide to release Holmes by next Wednesday, they would avoid paying him $15 million in guaranteed money. Right now he’s already guaranteed $7.75 million for 2012, so they’d have to just eat that money and move on.
The Jets have already come out and stated that Holmes will be back next season, but you never know, they may have changed their minds.
