New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes says he pulled himself out of practice during organized team activities Thursday because he was in for ''too many reps'' after missing some of the voluntary sessions.
Holmes, who recently returned from a goodwill trip to Germany to visit U.S. troops, says Thursday that the team had planned for him to participate in about 35 plays. But the wide receiver, who was not at about half the OTAs because of the trip, says he left after about 20-25 plays.
It was the last OTA session before next week's three-day minicamp. Holmes says he has ''a lot of catching up to do.''
Holmes spoke to wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal on the sideline and appeared to limp slightly. Holmes insists he was not injured.
