Wide receiver Santonio Holmes has been back to the Jets facility just once since suffering a season-ending Lisfranc injury back in Week 4, and that was Friday -- the Jets team picture day, Conor Orr of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
He has kept in contact with head coach Rex Ryan through weekly scheduled phone calls and assorted text messages to update him on his progress. Holmes said he took the injury as an opportunity to relax, read more and spend time with his family down in Florida.
As for his return, Holmes is still unsure. A second surgery to remove the plate in his foot is scheduled for February. Doctors told Holmes that he could begin walking and jogging in April. He did not know about his availability for training camp.
"We have a while to go yet," Holmes said. "We're going into our second six-week stint in a walking boot. Got another five weeks here and then another surgery." Source: The Redzone Attached Thumbnails

Report: Jets don’t look at Tebow as a potential starter
We just mentioned that Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports has indicated that New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan is leaning towards starting Greg McElroy at quarterback next week.
One of the most interesting things about La Canfora’s report is that the Jets don’t consider Tim Tebow to be a starting candidate.
This is confirmation that all Tebow is, is a gimmick to the Jets organization...
Report: Rex Ryan Likely to Name Mark Sanchez Starter for Jets’ Game at Jacksonville
If Rex Ryan is going to go down, he’s apparently going to do so with his guy under center.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Ryan is going to name Mark Sanchez his starting quarterback for the Jets’ game this Sunday in Jacksonville against the Jaguars. This comes just a few days after Ryan pulled Sanchez during the team’s 7-6 win over the Arizona Cardinals.
Though nothing...
Jets Fan Has A Buttfumble Jersey
Perhaps the most memorable derp of the Mark Sanchez era in New York has been immortalized in jersey form, as it should be. It is important to not to let history pass us by. Unlikely though it may seem, there may a day in the distant future when the Jets stumble upon a respectable quarterback. It would truly be a shame if at that time the world, or even Jets fans, could be allowed...
NFL Rumors: New York Jets Name Mark Sanchez Starting Quarterback vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
While Greg McElroy may be the choice of New York Jets owner Woody Johnson, he is not the choice of head coach Rex Ryan, who has named Mark Sanchez as the team’s starting quarterback for this Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Sanchez was benched in New York’s Week 13 home win against the Arizona Cardinals after throwing three interceptions and failing to lead the...
Anonymous Broncos rip Tim Tebow: ‘He’s not an NFL quarterback’
Apparently this is what Tim Tebow gets for minding his own business. The New York Jets backup quarterback has done and said all the right things this season, but that hasn’t shielded him from heavy criticism. Several anonymous Jets players ripped Tebow a few weeks ago and it turned into the biggest media circus of the 2012 season. Now, it would appear that the Denver Broncos want...

Rex Ryan is taking his sweet time picking a Jets quarterback to start against the Jaguars on Sunday, but league sources tell CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora that Ryan is leaning toward starting Greg McElroy at Jacksonville.

Mark Sanchez Will Start vs. Jaguars
Quarterback Mark Sanchez will get the start Sunday when the Jets visit Jacksonville.Fantasy Spin:Sanchez (12 TD, 13 INT, 71.4 QB rating) was benched late in the game last week against the Cardinals. Rex Ryan has Sanchez on a short leash right now and it's very possible Greg McElroy will take his place if he gets off to a slow start.
Jets Fan Made Customized “Buttfumble” Jersey
I’m loving New York Jets fans this season. They haven’t given up on this team, they just continue to get more passionate. This “Buttfumble” jersey was spotted in the crowd during yesterday’s victory over the Cardinals in which Mark “Buttfumble” Sanchez was benched in favor of Greg McElroy. McElroy threw the winning touchdown pass in the 4th quarter giving his Jets...
Jets beat Cardinals 7-6, Gerg McElroy threw gm winning TD pass
The New York Jets (5-7) beat the Arizona Cardinals (4-8) 7-6, today at MetLife Stadium from East Rutherford, NJ.
This was the most unwatchable game, and yet the Jets won the football game over the Cardinals in a ugly fashion way.
Mark Sanchez had the worse game of his entire football career. He wasn't going to survive this game in way shape or form.
In the third quarter...
