PLAYERS: Von Miller
TEAMS: Denver Broncos
Joe Thomas has blocked the best the NFL has to offer in his career. When asked about the challenge facing the offensive line this week in their game against the Denver Broncos, Thomas had nothing but high praise for outside LB Von Miller- “He may be the fastest guy on their defense, corners and safeties included. I don’t know if he runs a 4.5 or a 4.4 or whatever he is, but there’s nobody that’s quicker or faster at outside linebacker, that’s for sure. He may be one of the fastest linebackers in the league. When you talk about the combination of speed, quickness and you put him out there rushing the quarterback at 240 pounds or whatever he is, that’s a tough group of talent to deal with.” In speaking of Denver’s pass rush in general Thomas added- “It’s tough to say definitively, ‘Yes, they are the best.’ They’re certainly in the top couple of tandems. They’re definitely different than a lot of the guys that we face. We have a lot of respect for the guys in Cincinnati and some of those other groups that have outstanding defensive ends, but when you’re talking about 3-4 outside linebacker, get after the quarterback on third down guys, it’s hard to find anybody who’s better.” [Related: The Banner takeover- worrisome from the jump?]

Miller to Make Final Push to Win DPOY Honors

When it comes to defensive awards, sacks don’t mean everything.  But they don’t hurt, either. Last season, Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller won Defensive Rookie of the Year honors despite recording fewer sacks (11.5) then San Francisco’s Aldon Smith (14).  This year, the scenario is different. Miller won as a rookie because Smith was—and in some circles, still is...

All Champ Bailey wants for Christmas is the same defensive coordinator

Champ Bailey is an all time great, a Hall of Fame caliber cornerback and probably can’t remember the names of all 11 defensive coordinators he’s had in his career. The 14 year veteran is the prototypical defensive back, He has size, he can play zone or man to man, and he takes away half of the football field. It’s even more amazing that with the entire turnover Bailey has...

McCoy, Del Rio may benefit from Broncos' success

The more the Denver Broncos win, the better the chance they lose - coordinators, that is. Defensive boss Jack Del Rio and his offensive counterpart, Mike McCoy, figure to be hot commodities for any head coaching vacancies when the season finally winds down. That's simply the price of success. Coach John Fox says: ''You like to see people get opportunities and have those...

Broncos were reportedly prepared to draft Brandon Weeden

When the Denver Broncos chose to go with Peyton Manning as their quarterback of the near future over Tim Tebow, very few questioned their decision. While Tebow had just led Denver on an improbable run to the divisional round of the playoffs, Manning is a future Hall of Famer who has already won a Super Bowl. Opportunities like that don’t come around all that often for a franchise...

Denver Broncos: Week 16 NFL Power Rankings (#5)

Last week: 5 (+0) Record: 11-3 Net points per drive: 0.67 (5th) DVOA: 37.2% (3rd) Weighted DVOA: 39.5% (3rd) The NFC is the much deeper conference, but I think the AFC has more top level talent as they have 3 of the top-5 top tier teams. The Broncos are in 5th, 3rd out of the 3 top AFC teams, because they’ve lost to both of the other two. The Texans have split and the Patriots...
