Former NFL quarterback Joey Harrington was struck by a Toyota RAV 4 while biking near his Portland, Oregon home Sunday evening.. Harrington, 33, was taken to the hospital and has what officers said are "non-life threatening injuries". The RAV 4 was said to be passing Harrington and clipped the back of his bike. Derek Johnston, the driver of the SUV, stayed on the scene and was cooperative with police. He was given a citation for following too closely.Harrington, known by some as Joey Blue Skies for his ever happy-go-lucky attitude, was the third overall draft pick in 2002 by the Detroit Lions and played eight seasons in the NFL. Officers reported that Harrington's wallet flew was thrown into the air following the collision and was taken the other way by a competing cyclist. Harrington got up and thanked the driver for not hitting that hard, smacked him on the butt and had an ear-to-ear grin as the ambulance drove away.
