Josh McDaniels On Davante Adams Playing With Injury: 'He’s A Warrior,' No Update On Nate Hobbs
Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

Las Vegas Raiders HC Josh McDaniels had lofty praise for Davante Adams on Monday; meanwhile, there is no update on defensive back Nate Hobbs for now.

Raiders, Josh McDaniels, and Raider Nation all dodged a bullet on Sunday…

Sunday was another tough loss for the Silver and Black; we all know this by now. Still, Raider Nation drew one major collective sigh when Adams went down in the second quarter against the Los Angeles Chargers. In a season that seems to be quickly spiraling, losing the All-Pro superstar would’ve been a major blow on many fronts. However, DA17 proved to be a soldier by returning to action and, despite losing the game, proving his willingness to put his body on the line.

McDaniels, for his part, gave Adams his flowers—one of the few things that the Raiders coach has gotten right in the last couple of days.

“I say the same thing: he’s a warrior. And to come back in and play the way that he did after that, I obviously give him all the credit in the world. He’s a tough son of a gun and a great team player. I haven’t seen him yet this morning. But I’m sure he’ll be a little sore. But remarkable in terms of being able to come back and do what he did.”

Needless to say, if Adams had gone down, the impact might’ve derailed the season. Despite the emergence of Jakobi Meyers and Josh Jacobs finally knocking his rust off, Adams is still the heart of the Raiders offense. One thing going in McDaniels and Adams’ favor will be the extra day of rest since the team will be playing on Monday night.

Another development worth monitoring will be the health of Nate Hobbs; the defensive back’s presence was sorely missed on Sunday. As of early this morning, there’s no update on Hobbs’ status, according to Josh McDaniels when asked by the media: “Nothing right now. No, I don’t.”
