It's a slow news day. And since this is AFC East Daily and not SportsCenter, we won't try to create a story where there isn't one. We'll just pass the time. So no news is good news -- for the kickers. The AFC East has a pretty good dynamic of boots, so it's only fair they get their annual 400(ish) words of fame.Who better to start with than Buffalo Bills kicker Rian Lindell? He made 88 percent of his attempts last season, going 21-of-24 without missing from 30 yards in. Short story shorter, Lindell is a well-above average field goal kicker. However, Lindell was far and away the worst kickoff man in the NFL in 2012. According to Pro Football Focus, 85.1 percent of his kickoffs were returned, which was by far the highest percentage of anyone who kicked off in as many (10) or more games as Lindell. The Bills drafted and hired a kickoff specialist in John Potter last year, but the team released him after six games because head coach Chan Gailey said his 13-to-26 touch...

Buffalo Bills jettison veteran cornerback McGee

The Buffalo Bills shakeup continues as they parted ways with 11-year veteran cornerback Terrence McGee on Thursday. McGee was one of the longest tenured members of the Bills, playing for the team for 10 seasons. McGee had one year remaining on his contract for an affordable $1.75 million next season but he would have counted roughly $4.5 million against the salary cap for the Bills...

Tarvaris Jackson Coming Back Isn’t a Bad Thing: Bills News Wrap Up

Yesterday morning, the Bills cut QB Tavaris Jackson. When I first saw the text from “Buddy Nix” (how the Bills texts show up on my phone), I only saw Jackson’s name and didn’t really give it any thought considering the QB was almost never active for the team. But quickly the angry/mocking tweets started to emerge and it became clear that no, Tavaris Jackson was re signed...

Tarvaris Jackson has agreed to a one-year, $4.5 million deal with Buffalo. SOURCE: buffalobills.comFantasy Spin:Bills coach Doug Marrone says the starting job is up for grabs. If Jackson has a good training camp, he could conceivably be the team's Week 1 starter at quarterback. His main competition will be last year's starter Ryan Fitzpatrick (24 TD, 16 INT, 83.3 QB rating).

Buffalo Bills new head coach Doug Marrone mentioned that they’ve reached an agreement with soon-to-be free agent QB Tarvaris Jackson, via BuffaloBills.com. “I spoke with Ryan (Fitzpatrick) and Tarvaris (Jackson) and told them we will have an open competition at the quarterback position – similar to what we will do at all positions on our team heading into our offseason work...

Ryan Fitzpatrick, Tarvaris Jackson to partake in 'open competition' for Bills' QB gig

Bills Release Leading Tackler Nick Barnett and Others

News of the release of NFL veterans is occurring at a modest pace these days, and the Buffalo Bills got the week kicked off by letting two of their veterans know that their future services would not be required: S George Martin and LB Nick Barnett. The news was confirmed by a number of media [...] [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]

Buffalo Bills re-sign QB Tarvaris Jackson

On paper, this deal isn’t a terrible value. Tarvaris Jackson can earn up to 4.5 million with incentives with this deal, which isn’t unreasonable for a solid backup quarterback, which is what I think Jackson is. No longer is Jackson the “project/developmental quarterback.” He turns 30 in a couple of months and he’s as good as he’s going to get. He’s now an experienced...

Mid-February HOT BILLS TAKES

One of the rare few photos of DNP in a Bills uniform. Photo credit to Andrew Weber / US Presswire I’m in a wonderful mood because the Sabres lost again yesterday (of course) so I’m taking it out on you, whether you're seeing it here or on my massively under-viewed website that none of you know about. I’ve always stuck to my rule of only speaking of (and writing...

Bills Prepared To Add Another QB In The Draft?

Tim Graham of Buffalo News writes that the Bills “almost certainly” will take a quarterback in either the first or second-round of this year’s NFL draft. “Somebody’s got to go if that’s the case,” said Tarvaris Jackson in response to the idea of adding another quarterback in the draft. Buffalo made somewhat of a surprising move on Friday when they re-signed Jackson to...
