The Penalty Flag:
The Jacksonville Jaguars aren’t an offensive juggernaut. In fact, they rank dead last in the NFL in total offense.
In order to help Blaine Gabbert and Maurice Jones-Drew they traded up to the fifth pick in the NFL draft to select Justin Blackmon and so far the jury is still out.
Reports by Pro Football Talk surfaced last week that “He was still learning to be an NFL receiver.”
While that is expected of a rookie, by now we expected more than 14 receptions for only 126 yards and no touchdowns. Especially when Cecil Shorts has 400 yards receiving and three touchdowns.
Blackmon has been targeted 37 times by either Gabbert or Chad Henne.
Jaguars General Manager Gene Smith says he still believes Blackmon can play.… Read more

John Oehser reports that Jacksonville has already ruled out Maurice Jones-Drew out for Week 9′s game.
No surprise here considering that Jones-Drew was sporting a boot on his injured foot and was using crutches to get around yesterday.
Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com believes there is a chance that this could be running back Maurice Jones-Drew‘s final season with...
The Jacksonville Jaguars are tired of ''missing lay-ups.''
Dropping nine passes. Giving up a blocked punt that resulted in a touchdown. Fumbling in the red zone.
They are all simple plays - lay-ups, as coach Mike Mularkey calls them - that the Jaguars (1-6) need to make to help them turn things around.
''The things that are not allowing us to win these...
With less than 24 hours until game time, the Jacksonville Jaguars seem to be unsure about quarterback Blaine Gabbert’s injured shoulder.
The Jaguars upgraded John Parker Wilson to the active roster from the practice squad Saturday night, the Associated Press reports.
That could be an indication that the team's confidence in Gabbert’s torn labrum in his non...
Blaine Gabbert played a full game with a torn labrum Sunday, and he didn’t just play, he shined.
The Jacksonville Jaguars sophomore quarterback proved all doubters wrong, including myself, by having a career day when he and the Jaguars could have just rolled over and conceded to the Green Bay Packers on the road.
Gabbert’s 303 yards were a career...
Trade for Jaguars: Mike Thomas caught 63 passes for 820 yards and 4 touchdowns as a 23 year old receiver in 2010, but it’s all gone downhill since there and he has just 13 catches for 80 yards this year, buried behind Justin Blackmon, Cecil Shorts, and Laurent Robinson on the depth chart. Given that [...]
It's always rough to watch the Jaguars lose, but today's loss gave me reason to hope in an otherwise unbearable season. The Jaguars played well, but they were done in by their own mistakes. Last week, the Jaguars would have beat the Raiders comfortably had Blaine Gabbert remained in the game. This week, the Jaguars may have won against a quality opponent if not for a blocked...
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- The Jacksonville Jaguars have traded receiver Mike Thomas to the Detroit Lions for an undisclosed draft pick.
Thomas signed a three-year extension worth 18 million last October. The deal includes 9 million guaranteed.
The trade makes sense for both sides.
The Lions (3-4) lost receiver Nate Burleson for the season last week, so Thomas gives them depth...
To add further depth to their wide receiving core, the Lions acquired Mike Thomas from the Jacksonville Jaguars for an undisclosed draft pick. That draft pick is believed to be a mid rounder according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. Sounds like the Lions gave up a mid-round pick in the deal. — [...]
Jaguars QB Blaine Gabbert had his strongest fantasy performance of the season Sunday against Green Bay, throwing for 303 yards and a touchdown (to tackle Guy Whimper) one week after he tore the labrum in his non-throwing shoulder.Fantasy Spin:Gabbert completed 27-of-49 and outgunned Aaron Rodgers by 117 yards but Jacksonville lost anyway. Still, if Gabbert can continue to perform...
The Jacksonville Jaguars visited the inhospitable confines of Lambeau Field. The left without a win. But it wasn't the beat-down that was predicted. Both the Green Bay Packers and the Jaguars learned a little something. The five most valuable lessons:1. Jacksonville Jaguars are a better away teamThe Jaguars' play better away than they do at home. They have not lost...
The Detroit Lions made a trade Tuesday to acquire Jacksonville receiverreturn specialist Mike Thomas in an exchange for an undisclosed draft pick.
The deal is pending Thomas passing a physical with the Lions. To make room on the roster, the club released cornerback Justin Miller.
Thomas, a fourth-round draft pick in 2009, has 13 catches for 80 yards and no touchdowns in seven games...
It's no surprise that while many recruiting situations can get complicated there will be no problem with that in the recruiting of Elite 11 Valor Christian High School quarterback Luke Del Rio, the talented son of Denver Broncos defensive coordinator and former NFL linebacker Jack Del Rio.
Wide receiver Mike Thomas has been traded from Jacksonville to Detroit in exchange for an undisclosed draft pick.
Thomas could not pass Cecil Shorts on the Jaguars depth chart, and we dont expect him to benefit from a fresh start with Lions. So in other words, Thomas should not be a threat to Titus Young or Ryan Broyles from a fantasy perspective.
The Jacksonville Jaguars (1-5) travel to historic Lambeau Field on Sunday to face the Green Bay Packers (4-3), in what will undoubtedly be Jacksonville's biggest test this season. With Maurice Jones-Drew out of the lineup this week, after sustaining a foot injury against the Raiders last week, RB Rashad Jennings will get the start. If the Jaguars hope to have any chance in this...
