Less than three weeks ago, the Giants still looked like a team ready to repeat, so two straight losses werent going to shake the confidence of the defending Super Bowl champions.
A lack of confidence is something Justin Tuck said he believes wont ever be an issue for the Giants, but at times this season, he said he thinks they may have had too much.
I think weve always been very confident, sometimes maybe too confident, borderline cocky, Tuck said yesterday as the team returned to its first practice after its bye week. We lost a little focus. I think everybody on this team believes we can be the best team in the league when were playing our style of football. Its just unfortunate that we havent played our style of football in the past couple weeks. We have to find a way to get back to playing that.
After opening the season at 6-2 and holding a 2 1/2-game lead over the Cowboys, the Giants have seen their division lead shrink to one game heading into the final six games of the regular season. With a slumping passing and rushing attack, and a pass rush that is 13th in NFL with 25 sacks, after finishing tied for third last season, Tuck knows that things could be much worse.
Were 6-4, but were kind of blessed to be 6-4. We realize that, Tuck said. Look at our last four games, none of those games were good games, even though we won two of them. ... Our sense of urgency has to be great. It definitely needs to start now. We need to come out of this bye running. Thats important leading up to the next couple weeks to get the momentum back swung in our direction. Source: New York Post Attached Thumbnails
