Move over, Tim Tebow. Kaepernicking is all the craze now. In the wake of San Francisco's 45-31 victory over the Green Bay Packers in Saturday night's NFC divisional playoff, 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick's touchdown celebration of flexing his right arm and kissing his bicep has taken off on social media. Several 49ers fans have posted pictures of themselves in the act at home, in bars, on the street, at work or just about any other place they frequent. Some even positioned their toddlers or dogs in the position. Others made online videos. Kaepernicking had started weeks ago after the quarterback replaced Alex Smith, though the act has increased during San Francisco's run to the NFC title game against Atlanta. Kaepernick has often retweeted other fans' pictures of the act on Twitter. Tebowmania? That's so last season. Tebow, a dedicated Christian, had kneeled down in prayer following scores during Denver's improbable run to the playoffs last year...

‘Kaepernicking’ Earns Meme Status, Inspires Toddler in Rap Video Lauding Quarterback, 49ers (Video)

Memes in general have been around for long enough now that they practically seem old hat. Nonetheless, that isn’t stopping Colin Kaepernick from inspiring some followers. The second-year quarterback’s signature touchdown move — which actually isn’t all that different from Tebowing, minus the kneel — has already caught on online, prompting a slew of imitating pictures across...

Nevada hopes QB will help ticket sales

Nevada athletic officials are trying to capitalize on ''Kap'' mania. Ex-Wolf Pack quarterback Colin Kaepernick has the San Francisco 49ers one win away from their first Super Bowl since 1995. And university officials are hoping the man who is fast becoming one of the school's most famous alums will help them sell some football tickets next year. They announced...

Out with the Packers, in with the Kaeper(nick)

The Green Bay Packers’ run for a Super Bowl title is finished. Colin Kaepernick’s run to the top has just begun. You would imagine that this lanky man’s ability to scramble out of the pocket  would look a bit eccentric, but don’t be fooled by the pair of legs on this nimble quarterback. The young sophomore has put up numbers tonight no other QB in the NFL has ever recorded...

Wisconsin Born Kaepernick Beats Cali Born Rodgers

Sorry about your homecoming Aaron Rodgers. I’m sure one of these days you’ll be able to win in San Francisco. All the talk heading into this game was about Aaron Rodgers homecoming, how the 49ers were going to be upset they didn’t draft him back in 2005. Yes, that is right, Rodgers is still crying 7 years later. Well Aaron that was before Harbaugh’s time and he drafted Colin...

Tim Tebow’s brother Peter apologizes for gloating after Broncos lost

You better remember the last month clearly, because it’s unlikely we’ll see anything like it again. In the span of three weeks, two members of the Tebow family found themselves backtracking because of their role in controversies. Three weeks ago, it was Tim denying that he asked out of the New York Jets’ wildcat package because he was upset with the team’s coaches. This...

ZB Notebook 1-13-2013

The Divisional playoff round is one of my favorite weekends of sport all year round and this year exemplified why. The Denver/Baltimore game and the Atlanta/Seattle contest provided extreme drama. The San Francisco/Green Bay game, which is the one I was not able to watch, introduced Colin Kaepernick as perhaps the league’s next great quarterback. And the Patriots/Texans game ...
