This past weekend in Kansas City’s home game with the Baltimore Ravens quarterback Matt Cassel received a blow to head and was down for several minutes before being helped off the field.No big deal right? The big deal though is the fact that before Cassel got off the field, the Chiefs fans were cheering, most likely because Cassel would finally be out of the game, but were cheering about an injury nonetheless.The sports media circuit and other news agencies have been quick to call Kansas City’s fans insensitive, mean, and cruel for cheering for an injured player.However, the blame should not be placed on the fans in attendance this past weekend rather the blame should be placed on the Kansas City coaching staff and the NFL itself.Going into the Baltimore game Cassel had already thrown seven interceptions, while losing three fumbles, but had only thrown four touchdown passes.Additionally, in three previous Kansas City losses, Kansas City had been outscored 112-61.
